Longhouse Pan Asian Fusion restaurant — Restaurant in Sevenoaks

Have a read of the reviews, interesting reading. One or two quite negative comments, nearly all from people with quasi oriental names. Odd. If you want truly authentic cuisine from any country, you must go to that country. I like fish and chips, Britain's. National dish and I try it in every place I can. It varies from the superb to the inedible. In my opinion the long house does a perfectly acceptable version of Malaysian cuisine Bearing in mind it is located in River head. On my visit , having booked, we were promptly greeted and shown to our table. The place was busy , most tables were occupied and clients were waiting for take aways. Our drinks were ordered and served in good time and our food order taken shortly afterwards. The starters were plentiful and delicious. The main course arrived in good time and was equally good except for the roast duck which was a little dry . For some reason there were no desserts except for pre prepared ice cream.. Only instant coffee was available. This is a statement of fact and not a criticism. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, our overall experience was a happy evening with good food...

Well, absolute rip off. I ordered a takaway and payed over the phone. When I got the food, I checked the reciept as it came to £23 but was charged £25 on my card. Only to then notice that I had been charged the Eat In prices over the takeout prices. My full amount should have been £18, Not randomly round up too £23 and then again to £25. I phoned them and was told they "done me a favour" in delivering my food and they charge a minimum of £25 for delivery. But in the same breath told me they dont deliver and had to order a cab to deliver my food. When I ordered the food they did not tell me any of this and it doesnt state anywhere on their Menu or website that this is the case. If it was the case I would have collected it myself! They have refused my refund. Very rude and obnoxious over the phone, as soon as I mentioned trading standards they were quick to hang up. Very dissatisfied and disappointed and will not be returning. My order was crispy chilli beef, garlic and chilli prawns and mushroom chow main with a pot of satay sauce. Not even a bag of free...

The rest of the review is for the cost saving quality of food. Have eaten at long house for the first time over 5 years ago. Not for a while since the last time.

The rice used for the dish was the broken type of rice and poor quaility. Basically broken rice is the cheapest and worst taste. New rice as available in the UK or even a long grain but better quality would be and improvement. Cost saving effects the taste and in this case spolit the meal.

Unfortunately the beans used for the veggie dish were old and not at all fresh. Not possible to eat all of them. At home we never managed to select or cook them this badly.

The prawns were frozen and tasteless in the king prawn, ginger and spring onion.

Quite dark inside but I guess that adds to the atmosphere.

Parking is easy and hygiene of plates and silverware was very good. Nice to see.

Please invest a little more on food quality then would be a great...
