I recently visited Porcupine Pantry Cafe in Penshurst, Tonbridge, and I was absolutely delighted with the experience. Nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Penshurst Place, the cafe offers a charming and cozy atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxing meal or a casual coffee break.
The menu is thoughtfully curated, featuring a wonderful selection of freshly prepared dishes, ranging from hearty breakfasts to delicious lunches and delectable homemade cakes. I opted for the quiche of the day, which was perfectly baked and bursting with flavor, accompanied by a fresh, crisp salad. My partner enjoyed the classic English breakfast, which was generous in portion and cooked to perfection.
The coffee at Porcupine Pantry Cafe is exceptional. I savored every sip of my cappuccino, which was rich, smooth, and expertly made. The variety of teas and other beverages on offer is also impressive, catering to all tastes and preferences.
One of the highlights of our visit was the exceptional service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel right at home. They were more than happy to accommodate dietary preferences and provided excellent recommendations.
The cafe's location adds to its charm, with lovely views of the surrounding gardens and plenty of outdoor seating for those who want to enjoy the fresh air. It's the perfect spot for a peaceful retreat, whether you're exploring Penshurst Place or simply looking for a quaint cafe to unwind in.
Overall, Porcupine Pantry Cafe exceeded my expectations in every way. The delicious food, superb coffee, warm ambiance, and outstanding service make it a must-visit. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area – you won't be...

The toffee apple cake was very nice, as were the surroundings outside. Lots of free parking which is great.
A couple of bits of feedback about the coffee the iced latte with syrup was prepared incorrectly. Its important to mix the syrup with the hot espresso directly before adding any ice, otherwise the syrup does not get mixed in and may as well not be there. I think they basically dumped the syrup into the cup on top of the crushed ice and espresso, or possibly added it first - either way, it tasted as though there was no syrup at all Iced coffees in a coated paper hot coffee takeaway cup are quite unappealing, definitely prefer a clear plastic cup and straw for these, these would also be more recyclable. The single coffee machine they have is not designed for such a high throughput. Particularly the milk steaming wand is much, much slower than a proper one on a professional espresso machine or a more powerful bean to cup machine. I came at quite a quiet time of day and was waiting about 5 minutes for three coffees to be made before mine. I imagine at busier times the queue for coffee will be huge. I’d strongly suggest investing in a better machine or multiple machines. Consider that you’re basically paying someone to stand there all day holding a jug of milk while it gets heated up incredibly slowly - a better machine, as well as speeding things up for the customers, would free up your staff to be able to do...
Read moreI very rarely have to leave a review lower than 4 star but this was an exception. I was surprised to find out that when I asked for cream tea they announced they had no scones. What cafe has no scones! Then when I ordered we were only given half of what we payed for and had to ask for the rest. We then at last started to eat our Victoria sponge only to find out that it tasted nothing like homemade cake and more like plastic. This would ask be slightly more barrable of this cafe was relatively inexpensive but it isn't at all. Very disappointed with my experience here and...
