From organising the table a few days in advance, to eating the food on the table was just perfect. After completing a 6 mile walk, the sight of the pub knowing we'd booked a lunch was very nice indeed. The choice of food was sublime, standard roasts , main menu items, chalk board specials. Most of us (x5) plumbed for the roasts, which were perfect. As I was the driver today, the sight of two Harvey's beers on tap brought tears to my eyes (not really...) At least I know where to find it. The pub itself is pleasantly laid out and staffed by some very nice people. Not sure I really want to recommend this pub simply because I'd like to selfishly visit again soon, but I will. It's not Michelin Star but it's offering perfect pub food and drink. It's situated a stone's throw from the Eynsford Ford and next door to the main church (visible by its spire) Thank you Malt Shovel - a good...

A Hidden Gem with a Rich History – The Malt Shovel, EynsfordNestled in the heart of Eynsford, The Malt Shovel is not just a pub but a piece of history. Dating back to the 18th century, this charming establishment first appears in historical records in a will dated 1743 as a "messuage and malt house." Over the centuries, it has evolved into a beloved local spot, retaining its historical charm and character. While its history adds a unique allure, the food at The Malt Shovel is the real star. The menu offers a delightful array of traditional home-cooked meals that are sure to impress. From succulent steaks to hearty full racks of ribs, each dish is prepared with care and served with a smile. The chunky chips are a must-try – perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy...

😶 Quirky and unprofessional service here, I'm afraid, plus the food I was served tasted like it had been re-heated from the lunch time service, (we're here early evening) the gravy in the pie was glutinous and very unappetising, we'd been told by our friend, who recommended the place, that you would have to wait a bit as everything was cooked to order.. ! ..I don't think so.. ordered sweet after and this mysteriously never arrived.. but everyone else's did 🙄 The 1 star is for not feeling particularly hungry anymore, but that might have been more to do with the pint of Guinness I had..

(my personal experience only, some orhers in our group had more positive experiences.. and got the desert 🏜 they ordered.)

Sorry, but definitely won't be...

What a horrible food they serve unbelievable! The Sunday roast was absolutely shocking. Yorkshire pudding looked like someone spend a day sitting on it - impossible to eat. Veg were taken out straight away from microwave with some weird white powder on them, potatoes were burned literally charcoal. See images for reference. I cannot believe you are charging people to eat that food. I have eaten bad food but this was something on another level. Most of people seatting around the garden were asking themselves what the hell is on their plates. Shocking - stay away from this place and save yourself stomach issues like all 4 of us. (Shame I did not take a picture of a burger as I burst in tears after seeing that thing)
