I was treated by a friend to lunch so she booked The Stanhope Arms for 13th July. I had never been there even though i have lived in Sevenoaks for over 40 years. The pub was very modern inside and they had a nice garden and dog friendly. We had a lovely greeting. We ordered the main course which was lovely i had the Teriyaki Salmon on a bed of noodles. What i didnt know was the amount of chillies it had in the bottom which led me to choke due to the heat of the chillies. They should ask how hot one wanted it as i had no idea . My friend went to order two plain vanilla ice creams and pay for the bill. She came back looking a bit angry but mentioned nothing. 15 minutes later a chocolate type sundae appeared and then my friend let rip as firstly the staff were too busy chatting and then they noticed her waiting. We kept dessert that we didnt order and it was just as well neither of us had a nut allergy as it was full of nuts. I am really surprised as pubs need to fight for their survival and this pub was empty so i would have gone out my way to get customers in. I ran a very successful pub in Sevenoaks for many years till it was torn down so i do know what im talking about. I was very disappointed as it was my...

This afternoon I had the pleasure of visiting The Stanhope Arms. Throughout my visit, from the point of entering the venue to my exit, myself and my party made to feel very welcome. We smiled at from the bar by a very welcoming gentleman behind the bar, whom I later found out to be Chris. We were given Sunday menus and we were shown to a table where our drinks order was taken. We all chose different items from the menu however this did not prove any sort of an issue as relatively quickly, when the time came for the food to come all meals were not only presented beautifully and looking incredibly appetising the taste did not disappoint either. With some of the party then going on to order puddings as well. This is one of the best meals we have had out for a long time, which was made all the more enjoyable by the extremely friendly team of the Stanhope Arms whom it would appear are one great big welcoming family.

Thoroughly recommend the Katsu Curry, The Stanhope Burger, The Sunday Roasts, with Beef, Gammon and Turkey being big hits with the group and the waffle...

Popped in for lunch, last minute plans. Newly opened this month and the refurbishment has been done to a high standard. Managed to retain a familiar and homley feel, probably due to the staff being welcoming, friendly and attentive. We sat in the conservatory room. Airy and light. I had a good look around and all other areas look great, comfortable and nicely decorated. Toilets new and spotless. Food is all the favourites, not over complicated but plenty of choice. Pricing spot on too. In fact we didn't eat elsewhere due to it being £9 for a sandwich. Here £6 for a fish finger sandwich, salad with dressing and crisps, with proper fried fish (not fingers). Dad had fish and chips and mushy peas £12.50 and mum a prawn/garlic starter dish which came with baguette bread. All very good and desserts were delicious. If you can manage it try the trio of desserts. On the day ours was the after 8 cheesecake, chocolate brownie, stocky toffee pudding and ice cream and hot drink all for £6.25. Good quality tea bags too. Nice...

Absolutely lovely roasts. Chicken Supreme / Beef tenderloin / Pork Belly (£18.90) was very lovely cooked, nice and crunchy crackling and a sensible portion. Garlic butter seared tender stem brocoli. Ovened mini-carrots very tasty. Potatoes were sufficient and average for a pub. Lovely gravy (which is "bottomless") Cauliflower cheese would have been £4 extra. (Which is cheeky when already paying best part of 20 quid for a roast which is one of the more cost effective dishes to produce). Interesting concise selection of starters. The venue is marvellously decorated in a traditional yet not old fashioned style. 2x dining rooms each with about 30 seats. Garden is absolutely beautiful and very well maintained with sections and a BBQ area. Staff are wonderful... super friendly and attentive.

We visited for Sunday lunch and found the place relatively quiet at our arrival time. We had reserved a table in advance, so we were quickly seated and ready to order. The service was prompt and the menu, while straightforward, offered a good variety of dishes. The staff were courteous and attentive without being intrusive. As for the food, it arrived in a reasonable timeframe and the portions were good. However, I'm giving the food 3 stars because the fish and chips, a dish I had high expectations for, was somewhat bland and disappointing, especially considering its status as a near-national dish. The pub itself is very clean with both indoor and outdoor seating that is quite inviting. Overall, a decent experience but with some room for improvement in the food.

After reading the 5* reviews we thought The Stanhope would be a nice country pub to take my sister to for a birthday lunch. There were some positives…Friendly staff, Drinks were good, log fire was appreciated. But don’t be fooled by the photos on the website, the food was a big disappointment I’m afraid. The Pork belly needed more cooking and was served just about warm but on a hot plate, the Beef cheeks were tough, had no flavour, there was 1x 1/4” slice of undercooked carrot in the middle of the plate served with new potatoes, which were undercooked (mash would have been much better) the gravy was tasteless (like Bisto) We couldn’t eat it so tried to fill ourselves up with stodgy jam sponge and custard. I don’t normally complain but …..🫤
