Visited for an anniversary meal with a party of eight and, unfortunately, had a very disappointing experience – which is a real shame, as we've been many times before and usually enjoy it. The issues began with a long wait: our mains took an hour to arrive after the starters, which themselves had been sitting on the hot pass for around 20 minutes before being served. When the food did arrive, we noticed items missing – for example, the red cabbage and stuffing, which we were later told had run out. We were offered extra vegetables as a replacement, but it felt more like an afterthought. The "trio of meats" pictured was meant to include beef, but we were told they’d run out, so it came with chicken, pork, and lamb. While the chicken was fine, the pork and lamb seemed like scraps – mostly fat and not really edible. One guest in our party returned their meal due to being served just three tiny slices of pork, and another sent theirs back because it was cold. Although one of those meals was replaced, the overall experience just didn’t reflect the price point (over £20 per roast). I’m not usually one to leave a negative review, but it genuinely felt like the kitchen had run out of ingredients and was scraping together what was left – not what you expect when paying full price. The only real positive was our server – we didn’t catch his name, but he was friendly, helpful, and clearly doing his best. He was very apologetic, and we reassured him that none of it was his fault. We were given a 20% discount, but as Ego Club members, we would have received that anyway. On top of that, the bill didn’t apply the two-course deal pricing and instead charged us full price for both starters and mains – meaning we actually ended up paying more than we should have, despite the discount. If certain items are running out, it might be worth reconsidering bookings past 6pm – as it didn’t feel right paying full price for what felt like leftovers.

Large and stylish interior decor. Bookings probably recommended Service efficient and clinical Food was good enough - goats cheese starter was tasty but not quite sure it works sat on top of toast which just becomes soggy Rump steaks were fine - the usual rump trade of a little tenderness for a little more flavour - nice enough Sea bass was generous portion and nicely cooked, though my fishcakes were a little bit dry to be honest Rhubarb crumble was crisp and with good balance of sweet / sour flavour. Could not taste the alleged gin in it - bit of a pointless gimmick I think. Overall very pleasant Final issue - the ramp walking down to the car park is in quite poor condition and a trip hazard in places for older people with walking sticks - needs a bit of re-pointing

Had Sunday lunch here with some friends. Reservation had been made before we arrived, so we were taken straight to our table. We had drinks before our main course... Rose wine, beer and orange/lemon juice. For lunch, I had sea bass with some vegetables in a delicious sauce. My friends had lamb and asparagus, another chicken on a bed of fresh veggies and chips as side . Dessert was Eaton mess, Iced cream and... can't remember the name of the last dessert. Every course was delicious. Staff were courteous efficient. Ambience was warm. The restaurant was quite busy being a Sunday afternoon. They had enough parking in the facility..so parking is not a problem. The toilet was clean but didn't have a fresh smell... more of urine smell. Recommended and I will visit again.

I am writing this review because I have received an email asking me to.

Overall, the experience was very poor.

I was expecting to receive a voucher for a complimentary birthday meal as it was my birthday the following day, but this did not arrive.

When we arrived, it seemed that the restaurant did not have our reservation, despite booking online a week previously, receiving a confirmation email, a booking reminder email, and a confirmation text message the day before, asking me to confirm the booking, which I did.

We were seated at a table that was too small for four of us to dine at, in the middle of the main thoroughfare through the restaurant. We were repeatedly disturbed by people standing next to us talking and exiting the neighbouring tables to use the toilets.

After ten minutes, someone arrived to take our drinks order. After 20 minutes, we were without drinks, so we ended up having to go to the bar and get the drinks ourselves.

The food took 45 minutes to arrive, which is too long when going out for mains and desserts. Eating was challenging as there was not enough room for four of us + food and drinks around the table.

The food was nice, as it usually is; however, the experience was let down by the poor seating position and unacceptable service.

Settling the bill was again delayed by lots of...

Easter Sunday meal with family . Service was friendly and initially great but we did get forgotten due to table position and staff dealing with 2 large parties . Starters nice but Mains arrived and the 2 ofus got who ordered the lamb we given 3 overdone ( advertised as pink) minute slices of lamb . We couldn’t get attention of our sever so ate what was otherwise a nice plate of food with wonderful gravy . Unfortunately the paid for extra side of cauliflower was practically raw with no cheese sauce and a bit of burnt cheese on top . Again unfortunately even after catching servers eye which she must have forgotten as didn’t then come over I had to get up and ask for more drinks ( empty glasses on table was a clue ) We did mention meat issue to a server later on but was just told that the lamb was popular that day . Well it was Easter Sunday and I’m not sure what I was supposed to do with that info .!! i would have taken this further but daughter booked it and I don’t want her to feel Bad . Puddings were good though . Like I say after paying £200 for 4 for the amount of the costliest ingredient was very poor value and I’m not sure if I...
