I visited here on 3rd feb and Had a cute little date 🥰 night Me and mi amoré / Best friend and carer. we really do enjoy coming to eat here as the food is delicious, ill add few pics of things weve had over time as returning customers. Most Staff was friendly and helpful with everything unfortunately though when we arrived we had called that morning and reserved a booth table for 8pm and some other people were at it when we got there for our booking time but staff soon sorted it out.
My only critique would be, staff need to observe who's at the bar and the order they come in as we waited 10+ minutes as while we stood patiently 4 separate people came to the bar after us and got served before we did and then when they finally served me I told them I had a reservation for 8pm and when she realised someone was at it she proceeded to say cus of the table mix up too " you are 10 minutes late for your reservation" and I told her I wasn't late iv been here waiting to get served and to tell staff that we have arrived for our reservation. I will give the girl the benefit of the doubt as iv been a long time customer maybe she was having a bad/rough day or something as her attitude towards us as customers and just the huffing and puffing about was not necessary at all and made us feel like we was burdening her. I will be returning as I'm giving it the benefit of doubt, she's lucky we are regulars and not a new customer as they wouldn't have returned but as i have never had this problem before and I'm hoping to see a change in her behaviour/attitude but if she is the same next time, then I will directly speak to management and pass on her name.
Leaving this review on a quick note - 1 star was lost on service because of the girl and the other star on food was lost because the hunters chicken meal is absolutely delicious but them chicken breast are absolutely tiny and not suitable for an adults meal, a childs maybe but not adults it literally takes about 2- 3 bites for 1 chicken breast, you should seriously consider changing up which ever wholesalers you get your chicken from.
Thanks as always for all the delicious foods we've tried, next time I hope I can give you 5/5...
Read moreHired for a wedding reception. Convenient venue but shambolic management. All went smoothly at first and booking was paid, £750. I was then contacted saying there was an additional fee of £120 to have the time from 4pm which was never mentioned. Asked for proof of this but none was given. Went back again a fortnight before the wedding and saw the pub manager who talked with me about decorating the room. I was told by him that the backdrop I was wanting couldn't be put directly on a wall so it didn't damage the paintwork which was fine. He helped me find an appropriate place to put it and said he was free the day before the event to help set up the room. I also asked about bringing the cake and was told that was fine as there was a cake fridge to keep it overnight. Arrived to decorate at the agreed time the evening before and the manager was not there. The room was dirty from another function and nothing was in place. The staff were unaware I was coming and were not free to help apart from approx 10 minutes. I was then told the backdrop could not be used. This was via a text from the assistant manager to the staff there. I was told they couldn't keep the cake either. A friend took the cake the morning of the wedding and asked whether the backdrop had been put up as agreed by the pub manager. She spoke with the assistant manager. My friend's feedback was that the assistant manager was beyond rude, saying she was in charge and it wasn't wasn't happening. The two staff on the actual evening who ran the function were lovely and they were thanked profusely. They made the evening enjoyable. I returned the following day to collect items and was met with absolute disregard. It was a really negative atmosphere and no help was offered. I can only assume that now they had money from the evening there was no need to...
Read moreHad an 18th party there sat 23rd July. Had a few hiccups as soon as we got there. Arrived at 6pm as agreed the week before so we could set up. NOT the friendliest greeting we’ve had. Tried the new Buffett menu, which was absolutely fantastic. The lady chef couldn’t do enough. Kept coming out and asking if everything was okay with food. She’s deserves a pay rise + ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Towards the end of night adults were getting asked for ID for buying lemonade. Also got refused no more lemonade. Young man (light blue shirt) tried man-handling a young girl. Which was not acceptable. The young man (blue shirt) approached me and told me about him removing a drink from a girl. Why not tel her mother. If there was suspicion of under age drinking I encouraged him to remove drinks and if need be remove from the party. What I was extremely disappointed with was the attitude of the manager (light blue shirt) when it came to the end of the night. I cleared everything up and put in my car. It was raining and I asked if I could leave the cake until the following morning. I was told NO. Paperwork was then pushed in my face. Apparently the rules had changed in April and nobody to leave anything. However my friends party was the 29th April and she left everything until the next day. When we said this she was accused of lying and that didn’t happen. I’m assuming it was because mine was an 18th! DONT do them then. His (pretend manager) attitude towards the whole situation has completely put me off holding another event or even returning to Ridgeway Arms. The pretend manager needs SACKING or needs to attend a management course because he’s no idea.
If I ever return and I find an empty peanut wrapper at the bottom of my glass I will take matters further and I won’t be as nice...
