4 stars for the coffee but 1 for the rude waitresses. One was very polite though. Blonde curly hair and face visor. Bizarre and confusing setup with the tables and chairs outside on the grass. Wanted to sit there with disabled mother and the dogs as the cafe says dog friendly. Scolded by waitress "you're not allowed to sit there!" She went on to poorly explain that the tables and chairs on the grass are for waiting customers only. Had to hobble mother with dogs up the steps to the cafe seating area. Waitress walked off and pointed at a table in the corner and said "sit there if you want". Waitress caused an embarrassing unnecessary scene for us infront of other snooty customers. We got no service. Wife had to go into cafe and ask for them to come out and take order. Eventually came out and took order and was asked "what do you want to start with?" presuming we were there for a 5 course meal! By this point they'd lost us and we decided we were just going to have a coffee then leave. While waiting for the coffee to come what appeared to be some kind of manager came and a waitress took her into a gated area. Waitress tried to get past mother but couldn't as a large snooty lady was sat behind her. Waitress said "can you budge in?" to disabled mother then said "oh we'll go this way instead" when she realised she couldn't move. There was a feeling of resentment towards us particularly from the girl who didn't explain the seating arrangement well. I would not recommend this place to anyone particularly for the attitude...
Read moreI went on Saturday 25th Feb at around 11.15am with my wife. Parking is hassle, its a one way route which isnt clear on any signs as entering the car park. But there is plenty of off street parking should anyone encounter hassle in parking as I did. Upon entering, I had to make the staff aware we are wanting a table, I counted maybe 4 different staff walked by us and not one acknowledged that we would be seen, not a good first impression. I had to pursue staff at the entrance tills to make them notice to get us on the list. Once onto the list we were seated within 10mins which was fine. The person who served us took the order, but i felt that with the delays going on in orders, some acknowledgement of a slight wait by just saying something like "sorry it's quite busy but we hope to have your food with you in approx 20-25mins", would have gone a long way. I'm very patient but unfortunately I think some slightly improved customer service etiquettes would have given me & my wife a better experience. Food was 10/10 though, very tasty, turned my frown upside down. We had a vegetarian breakfast and eggs royale, absolutely marvellous. But I wouldn't go again due to the hesitancy of how we were feeling due to being somewhat ignored at the start. Atmosphere was nice too, pleasant, controlled and homely, especially the mini coffee bar, that had...
Read moreThis is a cafe which doesn't take bookings. It has free car parking outside. The cafe is all level access though it is a bit cosy, so people in wide wheelchairs might struggle if there is no one to help them navigate past the furniture. It is a modern cafe with trendy type frothy coffees, breakfast (from £8.50) granola (£6), burger and fries (from £14) and a cake cabinet. They are very nice. You should wait to be seated at the door from the lobby into the cafe. Service is table side, but if you're in a rush and they're busy, you might want to take your order to the front. We paid on ordering. This cafe is related to a charity that helps disabled young people to increase their skills. I thought the goods and crafts being sold in the lobby were made by them, but reading the labels, there were things from London etc. Personally, I didn't see much that I thought was unique and good value enough to tempt me. Some things are a little expensive, but it is good quality I found the entrance a little confusing the first time I went, and I would like to see more about the ways they are involved in the charity. The venue is tucked behind a housing estate (hence the name) and a little out of way so the charity is my main motivation for any loyalty as it isn't a convenient...
