1 star because a 0 couldn’t be given !!!! 3 years I’ve been going to the Peacock and every meal I’ve had there has been brilliant, even took family and friends and raved about how good it was!!!! last night me and my friend decided to try here for food as it’s has new owners - first of all anyone who’s been to the peacock previously will be shocked with how the food looks now. When leaving the pub I actually said to my friend “ I won’t eat here again, the food isn’t what it used to be” and apologised for bringing her.
After getting home I felt Ill and so did my friend. Both having to have a day off work today because we feel that ill i phoned the peacock spoke to the manager who told me “food poisoning takes 24 hours” I explained depending on the bacteria it can actually be as quick as 2 hours. Anyways needless to say she wasn’t interested at all, great way to start keeping loyal customers wondered why no one was eating in their last night. I suspect microwaved meals that wasn’t properly heated through while you “have refurbishments done to your kitchen” don’t bother eating here unless you’ve got the next day off work! To the riverlin it is from now on! Won’t be spending any money in the...
Read moreAte here for the first time and was very pleasantly surprised. Expected the standard pub food and was served one of the nicest meals I have had in a while, for a very reasonable price. We both had the lamb shank from the Specials Board, and it was perfect. The meat tender the mash soft and creamy with very tasty veg and gravy. We couldn't recommend it highly enough. I had the rhubarb crumble, which was obviously home made and of a high standard. The rhubarb nice and tart with a buttery thick crumble and custard. That too was the best ive ever tasted! My husband had the chocoate brownie which was massive! And delicious. He too said it was one of the best! It sounds like we are easily impressed, but we eat out regularly in a variety of restaurants and found the food standard here very high. The waitress also deserves a mention as she was lovely to talk to and most importantly an excellent waitress. Very attentive and customer focused. We will deffinately go back and sample more. Hope the standard is as high again. We went at 6.00 and the pub...
Read moreGood food, been here on Thursday afternoon before work & ate from their 2 meals for a fiver menu, staff are friendly & welcoming. As a family we always have a 3 course Christmas Dinner out as a treat, last year we chose to go to The Peacock, I had Pate to start with, this was DELICIOUS & came with toast & Caramelised Onion Marmalade. The main was MASSIVE, I had at least 7 different veg,not including potatoes which I got Roasted,Mashed & New Potatoes with skins on,a generous helping of Pork, Cranberry Stuffing, a Pig in blanket & big Yorkshire Pudding,it was lovely but would have fed 2 people! I felt guilty for wasting half of the meal but needed to leave room for the Salted Caramel Cheesecake. Well worth the £18.50 a head we paid.. Looking forward to another...
