My mum ordered the pad thai. It was basically rice noodles in sugar syrup. We didn't have to pay for it, which was fair enough, as it was really not pleasant at all. So that's something. However, we really did have to argue to get that, which is not ok. We were told the pad thai is actually very popular and lots of people like it, so just because we don't like it, that's just our opinion! Bizarre. We had to point out that it doesn't matter what other people think, as we thought it was awful and we're the ones eating it, and we don't want to pay for food we find unpleasant. In terms of the other food, I got halloumi and chips which was nice enough though it only came with a teaspoon of mushy peas which I found odd. The scampi and chips was fine also.

Today my wife and I had the hunters chicken and the fisherman's catch. Dry greasy chicken, baked dry fries and an undressed salad that must have been left in the fridge uncovered for weeks (have a look at the salad in the attatched)... disgusting! The fisherman's catch was also very poor... check out the peas! Also, service wasn't great, and older woman serving behind the bar said 'what do you want!' on approaching the bar. Quite abrupt, arrogant and unfriendly. Won't be going back!

One of my favourite places to visit before playing tennis just around the corner each week. The staff (Charly in particular) and the crew are all so lovely and attentive. The food is always perfect and the price is incredible. I generally get in there from work around 3.30 and the afternoon menu is such good value for money. Really happy to have discovered this wonderful proper pub over the last month or so. Mark

Well, where do I start. I can not praise this establishment enough for what they have done for us and our family/friends. We booked a 'Wake' for 25 people and this establishment gave us more than expected. I wasn't very good with the booking on-line so rang them and the land lady sorted it all over the telephone for me. She was so lovely and very helpful, thank you so much, I really appreciated it. The price was more than reasonable for all of the lovely food and service. The food buffet was just perfect. The cold food was chilled and the hot food was hot. The amount was really good, everyone had more than enough with plenty to choose from. Molly was very patient with me when ordering drinks for everyone as they arrived. I lost my way with who had ordered and who hadn't but Molly being a true professional stepped in and helped me. How she remembered so many drinks was beyond me but Molly, just like magic sorted it, thank you Molly, you saved me. During our visit Sally also helped us, yet again so professional and very helpful, thanks Sally, I really appreciated your help. I know many others must have been involved in the background to make sure the 'Wake' went as planned, it definitely exceeded our expectations. Thank you...

I rarely leave reviews but feel strongly in this regard so we have to as we are so disappointed. Not very friendly for disabled having reserved a table for Mother’s Day. Was greeted by the landlady who took us to the wrong table despite having pre booked one closer to the door due to her disability. Was rudely spoken to and advised all bookings are computer generated. After she struggled to walk the length of the pub, we sat down and noticed the wrong name on the table reservation. Despite checking again I was rudely spoken to and told it was our table. 5 minutes later we are asked to move to the front of the pub, where we wanted to sit as they have got our table wrong and had written our surname wrong on the table against the booking sheet the landlady had at the time! The waitress was brilliant and was embarrassed herself for the errors! The Sunday carvery was poor and wish we had booked into the Toby carvery instead. We ordered half a chicken dinner and got 2 legs and the gammon dinner had as much fat as gammon and the vegetables were so hard one flew off the table when trying to be cut. Sadly will not...

The service by the waiters and bar staff was excellent. However, we do frequent another Embers Inn pub and there was inconsistencies with how the vegan burger was served. Not as good as the other pub.

I have never been happy that dogs are allowed in eating areas but this time it was unbearable. The owners of a dog on the next table did have the dog on a lead which was extendable but did not lock it. The dog straight away started to bother us and when my father shooed it away we were met with abuse. Then a bit later it was allowed to wonder again and jumped up at me putting its paws on my lap. Luckily as we were about to be asked to be put on another table the dog and owner left. My problem is, if the food had not been late arriving, what would the dog had done then. I feel that if dogs are allowed in the pub then for one they should be separate from eating areas and two we should feel comfortable about complaining for instance signs put up about...
