We came here after a trip to the Peak District, it was rather busy however managed to get a table and got told the food would be 40 mins - 1hour wait. We thought this was fine as it was bank holiday so understood some delays can happen. We had an autistic child and a 1 year told therefore after 1hour 20mins, we asked how long it would be, to them be told it’ll be 15 mins and offered us a free drink as an apology. We then got our food 1 hour and 50 mins after ordering, for it to come back either not cooked or too overly cooked. The fries with the burger meal, the kids meals and on its own were barely cooked - quite hard and the steak (ordered medium) came well done , very tough and was dry. Along with this the vegetarian burger meat patty was crumbling apart because it was burnt. We called a member of staff over who rudely advised we only had been waiting 20 mins over the expected time as a response, therefore we asked him to get the order ticket and he corrected himself. He kept apologising for the food, and advised he couldn’t re fund us and could only re cook the steak(nothing else as there was various other errors) - he did even say himseld he wouldn’t pay for what we had given him. we asked for a refund instead as we had had a pregnant lady, two unrested children with us - as one is Autistic, it isn’t easy to wait much longer. We felt the staff knew the issues around the meal, as we had paid £96 - the wait was unacceptable and the meal placed infront of us was appauling. On top of this, the lack of understanding for families and the rudeness displayed when questioning a customer on their wait time was certainly not good service. I would not waste your money...

Excellent choice for dog owners, campers - and vegetarians
Actually, we were just looking for a place to stay for the night with our Campervan, because campsite receptions in Great Britain close early – a bit difficult for late risers.
On Google we read that the Three Merry Lads offers overnight stays in the parking lot. The reviews and menu sounded promising, so for the first time ever we visited an english pub. In the end, we hadn't just dinner there, but also breakfast the next morning and we stayed for another night - including dinner.
The pub is located on the north-eastern edge of the Peak District National Park and was an excellent base for excursions. Some nice walking paths lead directly from the garden of the pub through the forest - perfect for dog owners.
The dog-friendliness was almost overwhelming: At the entrance a sign announced that dogs are welcome, water bowls were also offered there. Inside our two collies were pampered with treats and lots of attention and cuddles. Outside you get free bags for dogpoo.
The young operators of the pub were very dedicated, relaxed and kind. They did everything to make us and our dogs feel comfortable. We had pleasant and interesting conversations (although our english is pretty poor), got great excursion tips and my boyfriend could taste many sorts of english beer.
We are vegetarians and ordered the falafel burger. Very tasty, a decent portion and priced more than fair. If you eat and drink in the pub, you can spend the night in the parking lot free of charge. Considering that you easily pay 20-30 pounds on a campsite (it was main season) and here we got a full meal plus drinks and could stay overnight for about 20 pounds, that's a pretty good offer.
There is also electricity, it costs 4 pounds extra. The night was quiet, the morning view over the landscape was gorgeous. We give a clear recommendation, especially for dog-owners and...
Read moreLooked at the reviews and the menu online beforehand and it seemed great, so we decided to visit. Upon arrival, no drinks menu available. It would have been nice to be informed by the bar staff that we had to order at the bar, instead of us sitting at the table waiting for someone to take our order like a couple of lemons. The menu was only half the size of the one we viewed online. We are both gluten free and they had many options from the online menu. The lamb shank was missing from the menu. The calamari was missing from the menu. My girlfriend settled on halloumi fries and was told that they don't have any so she went without a starter. The bar man was very good at huffing and puffing. My starter of chicken wings said it came with lime creme fresh.....it didn't! The wine was a little sour. My girlfriend ordered a gluten free burger and it arrived without bread. We asked where the bread was and was told "we don't do gluten free bread!" So basically a gluten free burger is a burger with no bread which in my opinion, you can't call it a burger. The main meal tasted alright but it was £20 and the portion was tiny with a lack of potato's and vegetables. Such a huge disappointment and will not be returning. I am looking forward to some nice soup and bread in the...
