Just want to start off by saying that there was probably some miscommunication and misunderstanding. Of course, to an experienced smoker, this mistake would likely never happen.
I asked the person serving me shisha (which was the £75 one) if everything on the plate was edible. The waiter replied that the fruit was and even joked that the four pieces were Turkish delight, which we laughed about, and that was that. However, after a while and after a few drinks the pieces genuinely looked like tasty Turkish delight. They weren’t glowing or anything, so I picked one up, and as I was about to put it in my mouth, it obviously burned the hell out of my fingers.
From that moment on, the night was extremely painful. I will say the waiters were helpful, always bringing me ice so I could hold it, as the burn pain came back immediately whenever I didn’t have an ice cube, especially when I went to the toilet.
Now, on day two, working on the computer is far from ideal. Typing as fast as I usually do isn’t possible, but it’s something I can live with. As someone who has never smoked, vaped, or used shisha, I guess it was a bit reckless for a waiter to tell a customer, who might never have done it before that the exposed, extremely hot coals were edible, especially when they were surrounded by actual food items. Maybe my question was so ridiculous that the waiter just went along with the joke, who knows?
As I said at the start, it was probably a miscommunication. But once you’re in that much pain, everything starts to annoy you, and honestly, what also got to me was the fact that, while I know it doesn’t cost a restaurant £75 to serve some shisha with a bit of fruit, I still had to pay full price despite being clearly in pain and requesting ice multiple times.
That being said, I must say the food was really good, on par with central London Turkish restaurants and even great ones in Turkey, so that was a definite plus. I’d also recommend going for mixed drinks if you prefer a strong one, as the cocktails tasted like 90% sugar with very little alcohol. I might give Atlantis another go at some point in the near future where I get the full painless experience after paying £270 for a dinner and I can then share another updated review...
Read moreWouldn’t recommend this place in the slightest!! Can’t give 0 stars, so have to leave the minimum 1 star!
Went there yesterday (23/4/22) for the Boxing. From the start, we were met by a rude gentleman (didn’t get his name). He confirmed we had paid the £10 per person deposit but on being asked if we were there for the fight, he said it’ll be an additional £10 per person on top of the deposit! We said this wasn’t explained and I even called the number on their website to ensure we could watch the boxing. We were told by the female that as long as we order some more food or drinks they will allow us to stay for the fight, the mandatory £10 per person wasn’t explained!
Furthermore, we ordered food which took a while to come and on arrival was cold! The mixed grill lamb was chewy and tasteless, the prawns had shells in them and the saffron rice was just chewy and again tasteless. The fact that the mixed grill wasn't served on a hot plate defeated the object of the dish. Shoving overcooked meat on a dinner plate does not suffice.
On seeing the astonishing bill, we immediately took the service charge off. It’s a shame really because the waitress was awfully kind attentive and rushed off her feet. Sadly she nor the customers were given mutual respects by the management staff. Also, we were told that only two card payments could be made per table (never heard this rule before).
Considering we were there for the boxing, we had to ask several times for audio to be switched on, only for then to be turned off before the post fight speech so the DJ could put their repeat songs back on!
All in all, for the price we paid and service/food received, I’d not visit again and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. I would strongly advise people to look at...
Read moreWe travelled for 1 hour to try this place. First impression, it’s a lot smaller than the photos they share which is misleading. It’s a narrow space. The restaurant is nicer - but has no atmosphere.
The reason I have given this 1 star is because of one staff member. Upon arrival we were given a seat near the door, it was cold & I asked if he could seat us away from the door he then rudely said - no because everyone else had just been seated. I said it was strange that “everyone else” arrived all at once. Begrudgingly, he seated us elsewhere. Not the welcome you expect.
We then saw that there was another seat free which a much nicer staff member agreed to seat us there (this was before the food arrived so wasn’t a hassle to move us). The rude staff member then seated another couple there. I understand that miscommunications can occur but he then made a huge speech about how he is in charge, he makes the decisions. This guy should not be working in hospitality at all. He was on a power trip.
We asked to be moved because it was freezing. His attitude was inexcusable & for this reason we won’t return.
I like the music, atmosphere & vibe. Food was ok. I have pictured the dessert, crepe was raw. All in all, it’s run badly & the management do not seem to care. They are only interested in the influencers types. They do serve alcohol. The table next to Us had a lot of it & started harassing the waitress. Security could be better to prevent female staff being hassled, they should have been thrown out - but as they were buying expensive drinks they got to stay. The staff were aware. It wasn’t dealt with well & made me feel uncomfortable.
I wouldn’t bother going here. Spend your money in a place that has a more...
