Me and my wife dropped by after going to burton. We had seen photos and people talking about the place on Facebook and as we were out for our wedding anniversary we decided to go seeing as we were child free.
I love places like this. It's an old style pub. Cozy inside. We spent a couple of hours in the beer garden drinking, we both were drinking dark fruits but I also had a thatchers Katy which I've not seen for ages on a pub. The drinks selection looks really good and I didnt think the prices were to high.
We ordered food and what a meal it was. She had chicken Tikka masala which was nice it came with rice naan bread and a popodom.
I had 3 items off the grazers menu which were 3 for £10. Butter milk chicken, bbq pulled pork nachos and halloumi fries.. amazing. That butter milk chicken was the best I'd had for a long time.
For my main I had a burger with cheese bacon and bbq sauce, because I'm a pig I added an extra burger. It was massive! With it came skin on chips which i normally dont like but really enjoyed these.
I know this isnt a 5 starred restaurant and it's a pub chain but the food was cooked perfectly. That is what matters. Nothing over or under cooked. Nothing burnt. Nothing cold. And all the staff were brilliant.
I'm 100% coming back and I'll be bringing my "angelic" children. 🤣.
Thank you for...
Read moreI was lucky enough to be invited to a wedding meal here - I had pate and toast to start, roast pork with roast potatoes, peas, carrots and yorkshire pudding for main, and a dessert of ice cream sundae. The staff were excellent, friendly, and as efficient as they could be given the challenge of serving around 40 guests. The food was great too - I've been to several weddings where the standard of food reflects the fact the kitchen is really just trying to churn out the numbers and this really wasn't the case here. Real effort had gone into every plate with attention paid to both the cooking and the presentation. I've only held back one star because due to the number of varieties of meals being served, there were extended periods where I found myself or others politely waiting for the rest of the table to get their meals before being able to start eating. I guess this is the challenge of serving from a relatively smaller kitchen to a large group of guests - it would have been preferable to me to serve table by table rather than dish by dish, but probably impossible to achieve and its not...
Read moreWhat an amazing little gem this pub and restaurant is! All of the staff including the management, were so friendly and polite!
The lamb hot-pots were gorgeous! They only had two left as they were so popular this week on their specials board! . . word obviously has got round! 😁
I enjoyed the mixed grill which was served with the nicest chips I've ever had - honestly, they are to die for! 😋 The roast potatoes with the hot-pot were the same! I was really pleased that they never charged me for my extra egg! Little touches like that, stick in your mind and puts them above so many other places! 😊
Claire and my daughter Summer, are still going on about how beautiful their meal was! 😍
Thanks again to this lovely friendly pub!
See you soon,
Nigel...
