I went to the greyhound today with my 14yo and my husband. I called in advance to see if needed to book I was told that I did t as there were tables available. Upon arrival I was asked if I’d booked to which I reminded them of our recent conversation. We were escorted to a high table to eat and told to order at the bar. We were not given menus so we had to sneak a peek at a neighbouring tables but I was conscious that one of the party didn’t have a menu. My son chose a buttermilk burger, myself and my husband opted to have a carvery. The beef was in the carvers own words “like pulled beef” and we had beef crumbs instead of slices. My son’s food arrived promptly, before we returned to the table for the carvery. My son ate some of his chips first and did his best to eat the burger but it was swimming in a very spicy sauce, I tried it myself as did my husband who really does like spice and even he said it was unpalatable. I addressed this with the waitress who apologised and said they would remake it which I thought was great service. A few minutes later the manager came out and said that she couldn’t refund the burger (which we didn’t ask her to) and she was unwilling to remake it unless we paid for another! I was astounded by her attitude. She then went on to say that my son instead could have a children’s carvery! He is a 14yo boy and did not want a carvery, else I would have ordered him a(n adult) carvery. I was utterly lost for words. I then went back to the bar and asked to speak to the manager again. She still point blank refused to replace his burger. Or anything else other than a childrens carvery (which to be honest we left most of ours as it was very poor as well). Never have I received such poor hospitality, she said I was welcome to address it with the owners of No 12 in Ashby who own the establishment. When we left, as we were getting in our vehicle I heard the most obscene language coming from the manager and the chef talking about our party. Effing and blinding and asking if we were “still there” to which she replied we’d left. Never ever will I set foot into this place again. The manager (Sam) wants sacking and the chef needs to understand that sometimes less is more with his sauces!! Kids running all around the...
Read moreWe went for a meal first time today. We walked in through the restaurant and stood at the desk for almost 10 minutes, staff walking by us and not even acknowledging we were there - a simple 'We will be with you in a moment" or "I'll get someone to come and see to you" would have been sufficient. Shown to our table and the manager said she would come back to take our drinks order - 15 minutes later and still waiting. Table next to us served first even though they came in after us and in the end we had to ask for someone to come and take our drinks order. We chose the carvery, the lady infront of us had Turkey, my partner was next and ordered Beef and the lady used the same utensils (tongs and a carving knife). My partner also asked for Gammon and the lady went to use the same utensils again so on 3 different meats!! My partner questioned it, the lady bought out clean utensils and used those for the Gammon. I ordered Beef and the lady went to use the same utensils she had used for the Tukery. I asked the lady for clean utensils as I only eat Beef and therefore do not want cross contamination of the other meats. The most concerning thing, I addressed the above with the manager with regards to serving all 3 meats with the same utensils and the manager said 'Well maybe that's the only utensils she had' and I politely pointed out she did bring out plenty of utensils and what if you had someone in who was religious and didn't eat certain meat?! The manager said she was sorry and that they were really busy and that the girl is new. If they don't have a sufficient amount of utensils to use for each meat serperately then I suggest they don't serve carvery. If they are doing it infront of their customers then it makes you wonder what is going on in the kitchen behind...
Read moreA group of 4 of us went on Tuesday 10th April 2018 for a carvery. We arrived about 12ish got a table. Ordered food and drink we all had a small carvery with a pudding. We to get our food, the meat was good but everything else wasn't. The Yorkshire puddings was cold so we had to wait for more. The stuffing, roast potatoes and roast parsnips was brunt, the mash was cold too. We asked for some fresh mash which someone did get us it. We make a complaint about it and he offered the 2 that had mash a voucher each but it came on one card. We then had pudding with was chocolate sponge and custard, which was like rubber so we sent it back and asked the manager if we could have something else but we was told no because we get the pudding free we wasn't happy, the manager was rude about it and didn't seemed to be bothered about the complaints we made. The next table to us was given a choice of ice cream or the sponge and custard. So again we got the waitress (Donna) over and asked her if we could have ice cream instead she said yes but she was a bit rude. She bought it out with no spoons and we told her that the customers on the next table was complaining about the sponge saying it was very heavy so she went straight over to them to ask them. One of our group used a folk to start eating her ice cream because it was melting and the waitress said as she was getting our spoons in a angry tone "well you did ask me to speak to the other customers I can't do both" which was very rude to talk to customers like that, she then just drops the spoons on the table and walks off. It felt that when we made the complaints that the manager wasn't bothered and said that no one else had complained, but the next table did to the waitress about their puddings. I will not be going again...
