Traditional crossroads country coaching inn type place - fairly limited menu but didn't mind as most things were homemade and a few daily specials available.
We were sat in a small annex which wasn't as nice as the rest of the pub, but again not a problem as we'd not booked and it was a busy Friday night.
There are some board games available which was a good idea before our kids got too hangry.
The food was superb - I had chargrilled pork loin, smashed new potatoes and an incredible stilton and mushroom sauce (from the specials board) and it was the nicest pub meal I've had in a long time.
Wife and son had homemade lasagne and my Mum had homemade smoked fishcakes - the also said theirs were lovely.
Daughter had chicken nuggets from the childrens menu and although she enjoyed it, I was a bit disappointed as they just looked like your normal lumps of frozen beige (I know, it's just chicken nuggets, but they cost £10 so expected a bit more).
Didn't drink as I was driving, but looked like a good little selection of real ales on draught.
I also thought it was 'slightly' expensive, but what isn't these days. We paid £88 for a main and a drink each for 5 people.
Staff were friendly, food was plentiful and hot and no real complaints. Would go again if/when in the area (we were on...
Read moreWent for a well deserved Sunday meal, ended up spoiling ourselves 😊 had the deep fried Brie starter brought out with our Heavenly roast beef dinner. Both were well presented and tasted amazing! One of the most flavoursome meat and vegetable meals we have had in a while. A good size portion too. Then OH decided he would like sticky toffee pudding which looked pretty and tasted just as good , so he said. No sharing allowed 🤣 The pub itself was clean, quirky and old school imo, they have a huge car park, and a fair sized garden. The staff were very friendly and the chef was very good with my allergy as I didn’t die 😂😂😂 So for a starter, 2mains,1pud and 4pints of Pepsi/coke it cost just under £70.
Would go...

Bar took order for chips and drinks and soon after mr grumpy (owner) turned up to table to inform them that he is not putting fryers on for poxy cheesy chips and screwed up there order and walked off. Partner had to ask for her money back. They thought it was funny but decided it’s not the place for them so won’t be going back!!! Well not till...
