This is my first review in quite some time what with Covid and Moving Home. Always nice to start with a positive one and it’s fair to say that live & Let Live has really hit the spot. We first visited for a last minute Sunday Lunch a few months back.. We always prefer a plated Roast than the chaos you get from a Carvery experience…. Everything from the Temperature and Tenderness of the Beef and the precise cooking of all the accompaniments was a treat, clearly the kitchen is in safe skilled hands.||On our most recent visit…… a Saturday lunch… and choosing from their a la carte menu we opted for the Fish Soup to start as a sharer.. it was served with all the usual suspects…. Croutons,Rouille & Gruyère. It was stunning!! It had the depth of flavour that you’d hope for from a well made stock and kept me wanting more…..||For mains I opted for the Lamb Shank, not a meat I would normally choose but we were recommended to try it and I felt it was worth a punt. My wife opted for the Ox Cheek with Mash and Asian Flavours. Difficult to know where to stop with the praise but the lamb shank was a touch of class, the meat was beyond tender but still held its shape and the balance of flavours in each mouthful left me a little speechless. Without a doubt one of the best lamb dishes I’ve had to date. My wife’s Ox cheek was pretty impressive also. Yet again, brilliant cookery and just the right levels on the Asian twist.||What I like most about this place is they have a concise menu with half a dozen starters and a few more on the mains. They are not trying to over stretch themselves with an infinite menu which may compromise their quality. The place from front of house to back of house is clearly run by people who have a genuine passion for what the do and that shines!!!|| I look forward to many more visits in the future.||Keep up...
Read moreCouldn’t decide between à la carte in the cosy restaurant, or the rotisserie chicken from Le Shack that we wanted to try - but it was a bit chilly out. Katie said we were welcome to eat Shack food in the red room which decided us and oh my goodness the whole evening was FABULOUS. Matt from Le Shack brought us (in the restaurant) an unbelievably succulent whole chicken, a delicious salad, and a new potatoes and roast courgette side dish that was to die for. To top it all the new in-house chef, a masterchef winner for good reason, came out to check everything was ok for us (even though we had ordered from Le Shack), and asked if we would like some of his gravy with our meal, which was a complex, rich, flourish that finished us both off. We became a bit giddy with the joy of it all. I honestly could fault NOTHING. The staff were all super friendly, cheerful and helpful, the ambience was delightful, and our meal was beyond delicious with no frills or fuss, just wonderfully warm hospitality. We both loved everything. House red was nice, too. Unbelievable value for money. Thank you, LALL, for a wonderful...
Read moreSunday lunch. Slightly unusual pub configuration. There's a traditional area as you walk in with bar centrallyvsnd tables to both sides. There's also an area to the rear, up some steps which has none of the traditional pub feel. There's a separate bar area here and access to the garden. The waiting staff are young, attentive and helpful. We had roast chicken and roast sirloin. Well cooked and tasty with excellent vegetables. We also had dessert and I can recommend the bread and butter pudding with white chocolate. The atmosphere was typical of a Sunday but I think they could do with the fire being lit as it was a little draughty. With a glass of merlot and pint of Camden, the whole bill was £76. There's quite a bit of parking area across the road, too. Dogs and...
