We ordered our food and sat at a table for 20 minutes waiting. Which is fine except not once did we see anyone come out to clear tables. In fact they brought food out and walked back past the dirty tables. By the time we got our food there were 6 dirty tables. Then the food came. Well we thought we ordered adult size… Baring in mind we just paid an arm and a leg for it, it looked more like a portion for an anorexic fly. Please see pictures. Sorry if this doesn’t make sense but I’m so hungry I can’t think.
In response to the reply - I didn’t complain about the wait time for food. That was fine. You stated that you were busy, well there were 2 member of staff doing nothing. How do I know - well we could see them from our table. Standing around the back by pot wash. So no, they weren’t busy. The fact that there were 7 tables just sitting there full of dirty plates should tell you that. Also, yes great, they are working on a bank holiday. But if you’re paying wages then they should be working and not standing around… not nice to come into a place and all you see is dirty tables.
It doesn’t matter which menu I purchased the food from, it cost £8.50! You need to present something that is worth £8.50. Not 2 tiny pieces of bread with a little tuna in it. Yes it was nice, but not worth £8.50!
We have been coming there for 2-3 years after work. We have seen portion sizes drop dramatically and prices rise. So we have already enjoyed it, we...
Read moreThis was a great cafe located in Ashby's near Salcombe. This was a great store and pretty much had anything you could ever need in a shop. From part garden center to part camping, boating shop and everything in-between. Also a butchers and food in the store.
The cafe is located towards the back right hand corner and has great views looking down hill across fields and towards Salcombe. There was a good selection of meals to choose from or even just cakes and coffees. I was happy to see a good selection of different gluten free options.
We had lunch was was really good. The food was at a good price and the portions were very generous. I had a ham, egg and chips which was lovely and everyone enjoyed their time not only in the cafe but in the store in general.
A great place to visit if driving to Salcombe. Either for shopping, food or a quick snack this is a definitely a place to...
Read moreThis Cafè is fast becoming a destination of choice for the "breakfast brigade". Composed of serious locals, they know who tries to fob them off with cheap bangers et al, and choose to eat at this clean and easily accessible café. It is NOT the cheapest full English in the area, but as I have said before, you get what you pay for. My breakfast was served promptly and looked delicious on the plate. Cutlery was spotless AND the loos were immaculate. Spotless loos, cutlery and glassware are a brilliant indicator as to how the owners treat the business and YOU the customer. Views are amazing, and well behaved dogs can sit under the table. Free parking with room for motorhomes and towed caravans. Ideal place to buy local delicacies and last minute pressies before...
