This is a hidden gem. Top class food and service. Warm welcome from the locals and the blazing log fire. About 28 covers for diners so I would definitely book, because this little pub is going to fly once people get in the know. My choices were changed by the Chef because I have an onion allergy. He came to our table to present his options. This is what I call REAL service. Cutlery and plates were sparkling and a good choice of wines, beers and ciders. Parking is about 140 yards away but check the state of the tide before parking on the foreshore. Wheelchair access is OK but could be a bit tight so be prepared and do a reconnaissance first to avoid awkward situations arising. There is covered seating outside but probably not if you are in your Summer gear! Highly recommended and there should be a special star for the businesses that go above and beyond...like this one. Our group chose Haddock and chips with vegetables, vegetable curry( superb) chicken and ham pie with mash and veg, and a seafood/ fish stew with fresh bread to mop up the sauce. The vegetable curry was amazing but the quantity was too much for her smaller appetite. You can support the RNLI by selecting a pudding because the pub donates the cost to the Lifeboat. So, Chef there was nothing wrong with my wife's choice, it was simply her inability to clear the plate. See you all again soon...
Read moreWe have been staying in beautiful Noss Mayo for 4 years and always enjoy our visits to the Swan. Whether we are eating or just having a drink the service and quality is fantastic, and we are made to feel very welcome. The food menu is really interesting, with something for everyone - the blackened cod is a particular favourite of ours and is always beautifully cooked. There seeems to be a good mix of locals, blow ins and holiday makers which gives the pub a really lovely atmosphere- and the view from the outside decking area (which is covered to allow for the British weather) or the quay is the icing on the cake . If you are not within walking distance of the pub parking might be interesting in the summer, and I would definitely recommend booking a table if you want food. Star of the show is Harry the black labrador who adds to the charm of the Swan and is such a lovely gentle character, greeting all 'his' guests with a friendly wag of his tail before going for a dip...
Read moreLovely pub, very communal. They do a great selection of menus, where each day is a different type of food. We went on Friday which was 'Grill and Fish'. I had a delicious lamb kebab!
My only criticism which unfortunately knocks it down a star is the management. Our table was way off being available when we arrived, so we were lucky and did manage to squeeze into the last remaining free table, however it was close and could have been a long wait! I think this was excerbated by the long wait for food some people were having, however, our wait wasn't too bad.
Overall, a fantastic pub. Highly recommend. All tables had a lovely view over the river and food was great. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Make sure you book as they get...
