Rather disappointed with Miller and Carter this evening. I hope management can see this and review with their staff.

We came for a celebration meal and were so excited to have a nice time out. Our server was absolutely miserable, inattentive and caused a damper to our meal. I ordered a wine when our food came out and the food runner who put the food down said he would get the server for us to do this. I was half way through my meal when our server came to the table, who then arrived back with the wrong drink towards the end of my meal and walked off before I could even tell her, she seemed to want to avoid any conversation with us all evening. It was only when we kept trying to grab someone’s attention so explain that it was the wrong drink, when she finally saw us, but I didn’t get the correct drink until after we had finished our meal and did not apologize at all - so I didn’t have a drink for the entirety of my dinner. And she never asked us how our food was or if she could get us anything else.

I wanted to bring my concerns with the lady at the front before leaving- assuming that our server was having a bad day. I then saw her asking another table to review her and leave her a good review, presenting them with a QR code and a discount. So it seems she picks and chooses which tables she wants to deliver a good service too, and asks them to review her.

I was pleased that the food was good and it came in good time, well done to the chefs. A shame that I chose this restaurant as I came a year ago and the service was remarkably different than tonight (I even think I had the same server last year! . It really put a damper on our evening :( The inconsistency of service means I can’t recommend.

We did check the front desk to mention this on our way out but couldn’t find someone...

My partner and I got seated on a very small table for two, right next to the serving doors and the staff station.when we got seated my table was so dirty my clothes was sticking to the table.I then ask the three staff stood at that station,if I could have a spray bottle and cloth to clean the table? Which one of the staff did a few minutes later. The starter of chicken wings, which was tasteless and a huge heap of salad under, that came with it tasted at least a week old. The main was surf and turf .I was advised that the fillet of steak should be cooked rare not how I requested which was medium rare. It came very under ,so much so it was cold with fat on the sides and the sinus was still running through it.basically was raw,the lobstertails was very small and over cooked, and out of the four chips I tried to eat three was still frozen in the middle. The oversized wedge of lettuce was also very old, brown on edges and very limp all the way through. This was meant to have sauce on it which was a tea spoon of some sort of sauce and a small crumble of cheese on the top. Both our meals was very poor. This was a birthday meal for my partner which i had informed miller and carter before going.no reference or effort or any apology given in reference to this. When I complained they refunded my meal and that was it . I then noticed another three tables around me complaining about the same thing's. To say the least we didn't hang around for dessert and not one apology for spoiling my partners birthday.paid the bill and left. Very over priced and terrible food...

Miller & Carter at Grantham is a nice place. Eaten there twice. Last visit (10/2/25) was a birthday meal. Restaurant was pretty busy but we were shown to our table and put in our drinks order. Then we asked to be moved to another table, because the frankly awful music was unbearable sitting, as we were, right underneath the speaker. Mostly though, it was that curse of the 21st century - on the table next to us, parents with a young child. They can't be bothered to actually parent their child, so instead - in the middle of the large, round table! - plonk an iPad in front of the child with cartoons playing so all around are treated to silly voices and sillier sounds played through the tiny, tinny tablet speakers. It's inconsiderate of the parents and inconsiderate of the restaurant to allow it to happen. Most of all, it's inconsiderate of the child's needs - no wonder every kid in the country is being diagnosed with ADHD and other personality disorders.

So, on to better stuff. Once relocated by obliging staff to a quieter part, we were back to yes, it's a nice place. Food was very good - beautifully cooked Black Angus steak, fries could have been hotter, as could the beef dripping gravy. The lettuce wedge was lovely. I swapped a piece of steak for my a piece of my partner's chicken chorizo, and that was very nice as well.

C'mon, Miller & Carter - you make a big thing about dress code on your website and booking confirmation - get a code in place on watching...

First time I have visited here for a meal with partner. (2/11/22) Had a gift voucher to use. The actually restaurant looks amazing, very modern but classy and very comfortable, you feel you are out for a special occasion. The restaurant to me, is a special occasion restaurant as it's a little dearer than others. (we usually eat at country village pubs, Welby, barkston, Easton) I have to say I really enjoyed the starter, baked camembert and bread. The steak I thought was excellent and in my top 5 places for steak I've had and I am fussy with my steak. We weren't sure what was in the bone so that was mostly left, found it was pulled beef afterwards but we left it as didn't like the look of it presented in a bone! Our only critique would be less butter/Garlic on the veg and meat we like our veg fresh and clean of fat. What really made our trip was being served by AMY. What a lovely young lady and was actually interested in what we were saying and helping us choose our steak. Amy was an absolute credit to miller and carter. A word for the young man who welcomed us too, very polite and friendly and a cheeky sense of humour I think. Thank you guys you made our night. Only 4*for the food but knocked one off because of over use of oils/fats. We will know to request no fats next time. Will we go back.....most definitely. I value good service and surroundings equally with the food.

Glorified Beefeater! Steaks are tasteless and service is poor and how Nicola is employed in customer service is a mystery. Each steak is served with a wedge which is a quarter of a chopped iceberg lettuce drizzled in a sauce. And a deep fried sloppy hashbrown is also served on the plate ? We both had T bone steaks which just lacked any flavour but also didn't come with a good variety of sauces like steak sauce ? Or stilton? Which would have been better served with the steak not on the chunk of lettuce 😂 (Please see picture of the monstrosity) Ordered chunky chips with meal and side order of mash which Nicola forgot about ? She heard it because she apologised in her clear I don't give a hoot what you think way. Wines are way over priced £20 maybe £30 of course for a £6 bottle in Waitrose but not £40!? And they go up from there! Kids meal with steak is laughable smaller than a fish finger! And fish was dry and fishy meaning it was bordering on being off. To call this a steakhouse and a gourmet one at that is a joke! If you like great food don't bother go elsewhere to a decent independent PH. if you don't mind considerably overpaying for what is a Beefeater then this will suit. So tried it during a quiet period on Saturday and won't be going back! Awful!

Greeting on arrival was a little slow. It took around 3 minutes for someone to greet. The steaks were all cooked well other than the Cote de Boeuf. The steak was not evenly cut so it meant that the outside was a lot thinner than the core. Consequently, the majority of the CtB was actually medium well done, with probably only 25% of the steak being medium rare as requested. That was the only complaint but at £66 and as one of the pricier steaks, it stung a little that it was not fully right. The overall bill came to circa £160 so the CtB was quite a big proportion of the price which is a shame. I will however return, but probably will not order the Cote de Boeuf again but I must praise the 20oz T Bone that I had for myself. It was evenly cut and perfectly cooked. Lettuce wedge dressing was unfortunately watery, not sure what happened there. Stated on booking that there was a birthday. I know that it is always optional whether an establishment does anything but it would have been nice to have had something on the side to make the occasion a little more special.
