Visisted here for the first time this evening with my partner and 3 friends and we were all very impressed with the quality of the food. The menu is quite small but when the meals arrived they looked fantastic! The onion rings were amazing, home made but not too greasy and fried in a lovely batter. The chips and mushrooms were also really good! One friend had the chicken and stuffing pie from the specials board which he was very impressed with. Another one of my friends ordered the banoffee cheesecake and WOW that looked incredible. It was home made and he said you could really tell, he said it was one of the best cheesecakes he's ever had. The rest of us were all drooling over it wishing we had ordered one! Definetly must try the cheesecake next time. Service was quite slow but the food was worth the wait. The older guy working behind the bar was really nice to talk to, despite being new to visiting this pub and not one of the regulars, he was friendly and happy to engage in conversation, making jokes and being really warm which was lovely. It was a shame so many wasps and flies kept coming in (4 wasps in total just in the time we were there) which I can only assume might be because the doors are left wid open. Not really a criticism of the staff as I understand in summer it gets warm but maybe some fly/wap nets would be a good investment for hygiene but mostly comfort of customers. Really lovely setting overlooking the water. Hope to return again in the future.

Absolutely love this pubs atmosphere and location however the food today and previously hasn't been good, was told a 45min wait but eventually after almost 2 and a half hours we received our food, as you can see from the photos it was burnt and deep-fried, I've rarely come across deep fried roast potatoes 🙈 absolutely shocking. Owner came to apologise and admitted they took on too many orders however they were still taking even more orders. Should of been offered a full refund and what they did eventually serve up should of been free! Shameful of them to serve it especially after a 2 ans a half hour wait!!! I Would high recommend for a drinking hole by the river but avoid the food its not worth the waiting time, extremely bland and unappertising, overcooked burnt, soggy veg and rushed.

Off the beaten track down the beautiful windy little roads of Surlingham. This quaint little pub by the river that's dog and child friendly too!! seating both inside and out. Amazing choice of food on the menu with the addition of a specials board too. All home cook food and great portions. Something for everyone. Also a roast dinner on a Sunday.. advisable to book in advance as it does get very very busy.. Friendly staff... Lots of parking.. and a great place for walks along the river, or just a little bit of time for yourself to chill and relax by the river watching the boats go past.they also have many different music/singers here too. don't forget always good to book first to save you any disappointment.

This is a nice looking pub with pretty views of the river. The food seemed like it was probably good, but it was hard to judge because it took two hours from the time we ordered to be served. I started to get nauseated and get a headache after about 90 minutes of waiting. The first time we inquired about our food not being out yet, they made it seem like we were impatient. Yet others who arrived well after us had already been served, so I knew something was wrong. It turned out that our ticket never made it back to the kitchen. A sincere apology would have been appreciated, but nobody did that. Nobody seemed to care. Also, when I ordered, I told them I was allergic to milk. I was informed that an item would be left off my plate because it contained milk. Fair enough. That's appreciated. However when the food finally arrived, that item was on my plate. I told the server that the other staff member said it contained milk. She responded that it "shouldn't" have milk. I asked if she could please go check to be sure. She repeated that it "shouldn't" have milk, and she walked away and never came back to our table. It's a shame because we had arrived at this restaurant in good spirits -- we were celebrating our son's 18th birthday. We left feeling let down due to the lack of friendliness, the two hour wait for food, and the unwillingness to check about the milk ingredient. I would still tell most people to give The Ferry House a shot because it is a lovely location for a meal, but make sure your ticket goes back to the kitchen and be cautious if you have a...

Lunch was amazing. prawn baguettes were full ham was very thick and tasty. jacket potatoes were loaded. prices are still excellent.

2 days later stopped here again while passing by. Would be rude not to. Stayed overnight had an amazing dinner there were 7 of us and everything was cooked and served to perfection.

Breakfast the next morning was fantastic. Big plates no end of toast tea or coffee.
