I recently stopped by the Starbucks inside the main concourse at Welcome Break’s Oxford Services on the M40 for a much-needed coffee break. The place is bright, modern, and easy to spot, with clear signage both inside and at the Drive‑Thru. I opted for a classic flat white and was pleased with how smoothly the mobile-order-and-pay system worked—my drink was ready almost immediately, which was a real bonus on a busy motorway morning .

That said, feedback seems mixed. Some reviews praised the “standard, expensive motorway coffee” but highlighted friendly and efficient service , while others on TripAdvisor were less impressed—one user complained of “terrible place … unprofessional” staff and high prices . From my experience, the baristas were polite and got my order right, though it was pricier than high street Starbucks. Overall, it felt like solid, convenient motorway coffee: not exceptional, but a reliable, courteous stop if you need a caffeine...

Went at 6am bought a porridge and a latte. Asked the staff for some jam the porridge. They had no idea what I was on about. After ten minutes of explaining what jam was. One of them bought a small pot of jam to me and said "we only have this". Yeah that's jam mate. That's what I've been asking you for for ten minutes. Finally got back to my van and guess what. The porridge I gave them to heat up was stone cold and I didn't want all the fuss of going back and explaining to them I wanted hot porridge. I felt like Goldielocks. Eating cold porridge is not good and to make matters worse it was the worst latte I've ever had from Starbucks. I'll aviod this place in the future plus I think there's a decent Costa down the...

Vehicle would not go through drive thru so entered into shop. No food or cold drinks due to chiller breaking. Sign saying ask staff for food but no food actually available.

Wanted chai latte and an iced latte. Chai latte no issues. Was told no iced drinks available. Whilst waiting for drink watched a staff member make an iced coffee. Perplexed asked what was going on. Was told that iced drinks only available through drive thru. Staff were rude and sarcastic.

Used toilet facility. Wish I never had. Door lock broken on outside so had to apologies to previous user for trying to barge in. Floor was wet with wet tissue everywhere.

Overall a very...

Appauling, staff behind the services were swearing and joking with each other. Had to ask them to toast a sandwich, were disinterested and generally bad service. My partner had to wait 15 minutes for a cup of tea to which he saw the staff member wash her hands, not dry them and allowed the water to drip from her hands in to his tea. Below is the photos of one of the sandwiches. Makes Starbucks look very bad unlikely to use the service again.

What an utter joke of a Starbucks. At 03:14 in the morning, whilst I am half dead and unable to continue on my journey i stop in hope of a coffee from my favourite coffee shop chain to only find out that I need to wait 30 minutes because the machines are cleaning..? Really? Ok then....! Looks like the Costa machine will have to do on this occasion.
