I had the pleasure of celebrating Mother's Day at The Argyll in Henley, and it was fantastic from start to finish.

The pub has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, blending historic charm with a cozy feel. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everything was just right.

The Mother's Day menu was excellent - our meals were beautifully cooked and full of flavour. The Sunday roast was a standout and was a favourite amongst our table, perfectly prepared with all the trimmings. The drinks selection was impressive too, especially the craft beers and real ales which my Dad was very happy with.

We sat in the spacious garden, which was a lovely setting to enjoy the weather, and the heated booths made it even more comfortable with the cool breeze that often came.

Overall, it was a brilliant experience, and I’d highly recommend The Argyll for a special occasion or just a great meal...

Is there such a thing as ‘prison chic’? If there is and it’s your thing, head to The Argyll. I forked out nearly £20 for frozen processed fish, frozen powdery chunky chips, a tablespoon of (I assume frozen) mushy peas and the same of tartar sauce, both served in what must be super speed biodegradable paper cups. I can only think the salt must have been top notch because the food wasn’t worth a fiver. If prison chic is not a thing, my apologies to all prisons. I’ve never been in one but the food in them must be better than this. I mean, they’re quite popular places. Unlike here on a Tuesday. Of course, I have to acknowledge the staff. If only for their comedic efforts to pull a Guinness. I reckon of the £6.90 I paid for a pint, over £1.20 of it was for the bishop’s collar head. No wonder the on trade is dying a death. People will not put up with such...

Just come out of here and left very stuffed and happy. We were only the 2nd table occupied (around 2.30pm on a Tuesdays), which was surprising as a very hospitable chap behind the bar which made for a lovely warm welcome . Had drinks and dried off by the open fire and our dog was treated to dog treats and water bowl. We then had a sneaky peak at a menu on the table next to us and our mouths started to water! Luckily they serve food all day, so that was it, decision made. 2 x Piri piri half roast chicken, padron peppers and hot sauce and coleslaw. Absolutely delicious. Be warned, the hot sauce is HOT. My husband had tears streaming down his face. All staff were very friendly, knowledgeable too when deciding what Ale or Beer to have. Prices very good too.

Will definitely be back and...

Stopped here for a drink after a long and lovely country walk. Decided to order an impromptu Sunday pork roast and were mind blown. The beer and Pimm’s were refreshing after our walk, but the roast was so flavourful and the meat pulled apart so nicely. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and the dish included tasty roast veg and cheesy cauliflower. My brother, who has been in the UK for 5 years, said it was the best roast he’d ever had. There is a large patio/grass area in the back and the staff are really nice. Recommend stopping by here! Especially for a roast
