I had the pleasure of celebrating Mother's Day at The Argyll in Henley, and it was fantastic from start to finish.
The pub has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, blending historic charm with a cozy feel. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everything was just right.
The Mother's Day menu was excellent - our meals were beautifully cooked and full of flavour. The Sunday roast was a standout and was a favourite amongst our table, perfectly prepared with all the trimmings. The drinks selection was impressive too, especially the craft beers and real ales which my Dad was very happy with.
We sat in the spacious garden, which was a lovely setting to enjoy the weather, and the heated booths made it even more comfortable with the cool breeze that often came.
Overall, it was a brilliant experience, and Iâd highly recommend The Argyll for a special occasion or just a great meal...
Read moreIs there such a thing as âprison chicâ? If there is and itâs your thing, head to The Argyll. I forked out nearly ÂŁ20 for frozen processed fish, frozen powdery chunky chips, a tablespoon of (I assume frozen) mushy peas and the same of tartar sauce, both served in what must be super speed biodegradable paper cups. I can only think the salt must have been top notch because the food wasnât worth a fiver. If prison chic is not a thing, my apologies to all prisons. Iâve never been in one but the food in them must be better than this. I mean, theyâre quite popular places. Unlike here on a Tuesday. Of course, I have to acknowledge the staff. If only for their comedic efforts to pull a Guinness. I reckon of the ÂŁ6.90 I paid for a pint, over ÂŁ1.20 of it was for the bishopâs collar head. No wonder the on trade is dying a death. People will not put up with such...
Read moreJust come out of here and left very stuffed and happy. We were only the 2nd table occupied (around 2.30pm on a Tuesdays), which was surprising as a very hospitable chap behind the bar which made for a lovely warm welcome . Had drinks and dried off by the open fire and our dog was treated to dog treats and water bowl. We then had a sneaky peak at a menu on the table next to us and our mouths started to water! Luckily they serve food all day, so that was it, decision made. 2 x Piri piri half roast chicken, padron peppers and hot sauce and coleslaw. Absolutely delicious. Be warned, the hot sauce is HOT. My husband had tears streaming down his face. All staff were very friendly, knowledgeable too when deciding what Ale or Beer to have. Prices very good too.
Will definitely be back and...
