UNPLEASANT Experience:
We were a group of 7 adults and two children and as usual we had a wonderful experience at Zizzi Henley restaurant despite an attempt to ruin our night. Food is good and the appetizers were amazing.
We have spent GBP 184.47
But I need to report an incident of potential racial discrimination we experienced tonight. The way we were treated by one female staff was unacceptable. We decided as a group not to spoil our dining atmosphere by not escalating the conversation.
This Female staff tried initially to be difficult in taking our order by asking us to wait unnecessarily. Then, she tried to flex her language muscles by teaching us of how to pronounce the word “Beef Steak” in a very impolite way. She pretended not understanding the way we pronounced STEAK as it looks that we are not fitting her taste type of race.
On the other hand, the male staff was more accommodating and selected a good table for us and was very helpful.
I wish if Zizzi management do something to reprimand the female staff so she will stop her racial profiling.
My self and my family are loyal customers to Zizzi everywhere and we have always enjoyed eating at their branches in London and Birmingham and at all other cities as Zizzi restaurants are always our...
Read moreNot sure if the staff were having a bad day or maybe all a little hung over but general beginner customer service skills were missing today. Let me set the scene....we were the ONLY customers in the restaurant, in case you thought the following was down to them being very busy. Only serving pasta, not their fault admittedly, but not much passion offered for what was available on the menu. Kids menu delivered. But no crayons. We went back twice to get our own pots while staff watched. I asked for a plain kids pasta with butter. But no butter available. No butter?! Do I stand alone in feeling like butter should be standard in all restaurants? The waitress and chef had a good old chat at the pass while our kids food sat...and sat..and sat there. A hard one to sit back and watch when you have two extremely ‘hangry’ kids at the table. One of the pasta dishes was undercooked. Crunchy! No staff in the room to tell and no one came to check in. The waitress did take it off the bill when we flagged her down. Then finally two members of staff stood back and watched me struggle to open the door and manoeuvre the buggy outside with no offer of help. I think they were busy, doing nothing. Overall an odd experience for Zizzi’s which is usually pretty reliable, especially...
Read moreThis restaurant is in the centre of Henley, on the main road. From the outside, the pretty window is deceiving as it looks small, but once you enter it's like a Tardis - absolutely huge. The building is one of the oldest in the town and it's been cleverly decorated, with quirky features. There's both downstairs and upstairs seating. We sat downstairs at the back. We did pre-book, as it can get quite busy and a steady flow of guests, meant all the tables were eventually full. The staff were friendly and welcoming, providing a good service. Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant. You can either order via the online system, or with the waiting staff. 3 of us had an array of dishes including prawn skewers, garlic bread, salad, chicken, beef, pizza, desserts and drinks. The total cost was just over £100, which is pricey, but the food was really good. We were not rushed and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I would certainly recommend this to others. Parking is available in the town behind waitrose and it's...
