We visited the restaurant for Saturday lunch. I read so many good reviews about it, we were really looking forward to a meal in the Moat. Unfortunately it was a massive disappointment, for the start to finish. The food was just awful, my husband ordered fish and chips. The fish was extremely oily and just tasteless, he felt sick after eating a portion of it and the chips were undone. I ordered duck breast and truffle and parmesan chips. Shame - no one asked me how I wanted it done as it arrived quite bloody and I didn't enjoy it. It was blant, there was not enough sauce to add any taste to it, just two small dots. Didn't eat even half of it. Truffle and parmesan chips - well I couldn't find any truffle and it was so little parmesan on them you could barely see it. Again undercooked. Staff didn't ask us even ones how we liked our food. We tried to get their attention to get the bill so we could leave and get some food elsewhere (no luck here). At the end we had to leave the table and pay at the till and even then no one asked us how we enjoyed the meal. It is such a shame. Beautiful place, but the food was just awful and the service needs improvement. There was a baby show and wedding happening the same day so maybe that's the reason why it was so bad for us but still I was a paying customer and the standard should be the same for everyone. I will...

Read moreWow, what a place! In a stunning setting, we booked the Orangery not realising that they also did pub food, but no regrets. The atmosphere and restaurant wowed, and initially a little hesitant as to what the price might get like (it's Michelin starred) we were quickly reassured by looking at the menu, and set out to enjoy ourselves. They do a lovely vegetarian and vegan menu, and we opted for mains with breads to start, and weren't disappointed. This is wonderful fine dining. As the food was so beautifully presented (and came with a delicious amuse bouche as a surprise) we really couldn't resist going for dessert as well! Service was faultless and delightful. Definitely...
