No frills, you know what your getting, good honest food at a great price thats started to slip last 4 weeks who evers cooking. Twice eggs translucent and sausage uncooked followed by scampi, we all had the runs 3 times. Feel sorry for the 5 great staff, just let down by GK hierarchy that brush you aside with your nothing attititude. Be prepared for a long wait ordering, you can be there a long time with no staff around but plenty on. Can be waiting 20 mins for no reason time again, then punters turn up and all get served straight away certainly aint on. Of late theyre closing early again, fine if notified and few are in. Problem arises when kick out 42 paying punters at 10.30pm on a Friday night + 10 outside thats pretty good for them! We have seen this several times before when the staff want to get away early - customers remember and never return as proven last year. Edit theyre going to your competitors. One of the few GK pubs that have limited guest ales on rotation and take CAMRA card. Edit _ We were not told of any change in closing time since you came down Lisa, in fact we were ignored for 20 mins Again. Same happened two weeks prior. Point being we were looked in the eye and blatantly lied to, thats happened dozens of times before, must be GK training and needs addressing. Just the way to treat your regulars. If you dont get us in a social environment nights, you wont see us for food. You do realise we eat in 6 times in 10 days. £363 spent in 12 days and thats how were treated. If care to check CTV will see last to be served was at 10.47 1/4hr after being told closing at 10.30. It was me who cheered the young girl up, the one we usually walk home. Know one side of the story, buck...

We have visited this pub regularly for a number of years and always enjoyed the experience. Today after it's recent extensive refit, we booked a table for 4 at midday, we were one of the first customers of the day. We were told there was a 30 minutes wait for food orders. Strange as the place was all but empty, having just opened for the day's business. The following two and a half hours of complete chaos was like a scene from Fawlty Towers. The food service took for ever, with odd meals turning up randomly and not all together. Some of our party were finishing their meals when others were still waiting for there's. They even had to send out to Sainsbury's for milk to serve a coffee we ordered, which took an hour to arrive. The food quality was for the most part acceptable, but the service absolutely appalling. Whilst we were there waiting for our meals, a number of other tables with similar issues were complaining, some leaving without eating. The place is obviously understaffed and incompetently managed. We will think twice before we go back there again, particularly as the previous menu choice has reduced but the price has increased 40% we...

Part of the Greene King chain of pubs. Ample parking, the tables well spaced, staff very helpful and attentive. Standard pub type food. My Steak and Kidney pie was a little dry inside. A pot of gravy was supplied with meal. My friend's Chicken and Mushroom pie was moist inside but the pastry was a bit hard. Prices not too bad for what you get. See pictures, onion rings were a extra.

Update: Went for Sunday lunch Easter, staff were helpful, Sunday roast was perfect. They had put on an Egg hunt for the children and presented them each with a larger chocolate egg after our meal, nice touch.

Update: See pictures of Christmas Turkey lunch and sweets, Apple crumble with custard and Chocolate Fudge cake with ice cream, everything cooked and presented perfectly and friendly staff. .

Update 09/23 Went for Sunday Roast, the place hasn't changed, friendly, welcoming and fantastic food. I think one of the things that make this place what it is, is the Staff, so helpful and friendly. Shame I Can't increase my original 5 stars to 6. It's a chain pub but there is something that makes it stand out...

Nice menu that contains varied dishes at reasonable cost. Wheelchair access is good with entrance all on one level. Friendly staff and booking not essential but best if larger group. Toilets are spotless too. update:- Today we sampled the festive menu and arrived to a neatly laid table with crackers. Food was spot on again and everyone enjoyed their food. The Service was excellent by a very helpful and polite staff. thank you.
