I used to go on a regular basis. Was always a nice place for a meal on a lunchtime. Went a month ago and the barmaid quite rude. The lads and lasses are great, very helpful. Food was nice so we decided to go again the week after. Meal nice but some of the mixed grill didn't turn up on the plate.bar lady not too bad this time. On Saturday gone we reserved a table for 3. Me and my partner Went to the bar to order food. Mother clucker sandwich, Rib eye steak medium done and pie and chips, one large coke and a bottle of pear cider. She put the meals through the till. Usually I'm asked if it's chips or mash with the pie but didn't get asked this time. So after paying by card she went to get the cider and as she bent down to get the cider I said can you do the pie with chips please. She exhaled angrily and stormed over saying loudly' you should have said that before so now I'll have to cancel the order and your card and start all over again'. She placed the cider on the counter already open. It was red fruit not pear. We didn't bother to argue she was fuming that she had to start all over again. One of the lads said to her that he would just tell the chef. Having worked there as a cook many years ago it is nothing to just go in the kitchen and explain chips instead of mash. It was an awful atmosphere. I had a grandson with me and if he hadn't been there i would have let her know my disgust in her attitude . The meal came. Steak.....rare. the pie was so dry inside because it had been in the oven that when I managed to break through the pastry the pie inside on the crust was black. Pie had sat in oven far too long so meat was dry and pastry so hard itcwas hard to smash tbrough to get into it. I have photos which I sent to head office as the meal was that bad. Serving girls are fantastic. Usually they ask half way through are you enjoying your meal. They didn't. But even if they had, I couldn't have said anything as we had already encountered rudeness and annoyance at the bar. I did tell the young lass at the end who offered me the chance to talk to the manager but we just wAnted to go. If I could post the photos on here you'd understand my grievance. Nearly £40 and two out of three meals awful not forgetting the cider was not the one we ordered. Won't be recommending again. For years I sang this pubs praises. Not any more. First impression of a place is what you see when you walk in the door and the first person to serve you. We felt intimidated and unwelcome by this person behind the bar. the food standard.....has sank to an...

Worst quality food Ive had in a long time, this pub used to do lovely steaks. The 32oz challenge rump used to be delicious. They only do a 24oz fondu steak now, which isnt a steak, its pieces of steak they say is cut to let you dip it, so you cant be sure if it was a steak to begin with and they clearly dont think you can use a steak knife! (Its not cut in front of you)

The medium ribeye steak I ordered was 30% uncooked fat and gristle and 70% something else, the quality of the meat was terrible, it had been severely beaten with a tenderiser and had a lot of cuts in it where someone must have been checking the meat colour as it was cooking. Seems like the person cooking doesnt know how to cook steaks and/or the quality of the steak is so poor it doesnt cook like steak should.

The hot plate was covered in sloppy wet onion pieces, which tainted the flavourless "ribeye" steak and it ended up tasting like hotdog.

The peppercorn sauce was thin, curdled, lumpy and tasted acrid; half the peas were brown and the 8 or 9 chips I got tasted like the oil they were cooked in was very very old, even with vinegar on them.

The pub was slightly busy, a football match was on tv, it was so loud you couldnt hear each other speak.

Service was very basic, we were not asked if the food was ok or if we wanted dessert, I dont think anyone their cared either way.

Honestly, youd be better off going to wetherspoons, as bad as they are, their food is better than here and cost less!

Very dissapointed, having enjoyed food here in the past, its gone down hill severely.

This time the food was really disgusting, the quality of the steak is the worst ive ever experienced, it was cooked badly and not as requested, the peas were old and tasted bad, the grilled tomato and other items on the rest of the order were so dry and over cooked, they looked and tasted as if they had been under a heat lamp for 5 hours.

The menu change is poor, the offerings are limited and it has clearly has been done to increase profit, the 24oz fondu used to be 32oz not long ago!

A medium 9oz ribeye with peppercorn sauce and a large diet coke was almost £20, not a lot if it had been edible.

As I sit here having stomach cramps, I can honestly say we will never eat here again and would not recommend the Prince of...

Our meal was brought to the table on normal plates..?????????. Being regulars sometimes up to 4 times a week.were known to have skillets only as this has happened a couple of times before.if there is no skilkets then why arnt we told.why are the hardworking staff left to explain to the customer when they haven't even been told themselves to say there's no skillet cs we've got a party in.they were well finished by the time we waited an hour.how many skilets do you guys have.the girl was apologetic but I see these workers rushed off their feet few times cs they haven't been told by whoever is responsible for email bookings there party coming in.AND to add to the dissapointment my meal was brought back in minutes on a skillet????? But no sound of sizzling chips warm AND NO MUSHROOMS OR ONIONS.VERY SMALL PORTION OF CHIPS.WHO SERVES A STEAK WITH NO ONIONS AND MUSHROOMS. Because they ran out. Had a party or 2 in. I no they had hours to get more onions mushrooms because I overheard another customer. Give a thought to your hard working staff of taking abuse from customers when they are doing their job great.definetely the WORST MEAL YET. TELL ME WHY I SHOULD COME BACK. LUSH WHEN WE 1ST START COMING. AT LEAST 5 LET DOWNS SINCE THE CHEF...

I’ve changed my review from 5 stars of 3 years because I feel the place is not the same anymore. Twice in the last week and there’s been problems. Not taken order correctly and spending just over £10 for 3 cokes and you won’t fill the glass and I think it’s disgusting really and saying it’s because you’ve not got ice is a joke surely, I asked for a large glass of coke and not coke being watered down with half a glass of ice. Feel ripped off and when We Ordered mash for my son we got jacket potato, there was customers shouting at the bar because of there service when me and my children were trying to eat so we just didn’t bother to say anything as the staff were clearly struggling as it was. We eat out all the time and used to love the atmosphere food and service but staff have changed and it feels like there just doing a job and not thinking about the customer or service. I won’t try a 3rd time this month because it’s been twice now and spending over £50 each time to leave unhappy isn’t what I plan when I go out

We've been twice recently and both times the food was nice. The only thing I'd suggest is, that if you call in early in the day wrap up.. It was quite chilly in there.. And don't sit near the windows..there's a Hell of draught. Food.. We had lasagne the first time It was nice.. The salad onions were a bit limp and tasteless like they'd been stored overnight or those mixed salad bags you can buy in the supermarket. The second time. I had bangers and mash with gravy so thick you could lay bricks with it. The sausage and mash were OK The hubby had the all day breakfast And loved it.. Only disappointment for him was the grilled tomato was cold it gets quite busy in there too. We've been in twice for lunch and both times... As we were leaving there were people at just about every table.
