Hi we came in for breakfast on Saturday 8th August. It was my birthday there was 4 adults a 16 year old an 8 year old and a 4 year old. My husband paid the bill which came to £57. 30 which on reflection (as he did not tell me at the time how much it had cost) I feel was rather steep for the the service we received. We arrived at approximately 10.25 am we were going to sit outside in the garden but were told that due to health and safety food could not be served outdoors in that area so we then moved to the outside area at the front. The young man who took our order was lovely friendly but professional and very patient as my daughter asked for some menu changes. The order was 1 full English one breakfast snack with no tomatoes and no black pudding, two eggs benedict one with the hollandaise sauce on the side as the youngest two were sharing and we were unsure if the little one wanted sauce. Two smashed avocado but one with bacon instead of poached egg. The drinks were 2 lattes, 2 Americano's one orange juice one apple juice and one black currant and water When we had initially entered the bar area a couple who were ordering was told it would be about 25 minutes for breakfast. As we knew it was going to be a while my husband and son in law took turns watching the youngsters at the play area. At 20 past 11 I looked at my watch and thought it had been a while since we ordered. About 10 minutes after this the lovely lad who had taken the order came out and said he was sorry about the delay as the chef had made a mistake with the order and had to start again. He asked if we wanted to order more drinks another two Americano's was ordered one more orange juice and possibly another apple juice. I'm not sure what time we got served but it was a different lady who brought the food which makes me think it was after 12. The order came out with 3 eggs benedict. We said only two had been ordered one was returned to the kitchen. Two avocado came out both with poached eggs one was returned and the egg changed for bacon as per original request. Last but not least my husband was served his full English consisting of 2 sausages, mushrooms, hash browns. And tomatoes. My daughter commentate that their was no eggs or beans and I noticed no bacon. At that point the waitress returned and apologised as she had served an incomplete breakfast his plate was removed and by the time his breakfast was eventually served everyone else had finished. Everything was very nice once it all arrived and my husband stated that one of the eggs benedict had been taken off the bill, however I wonder if that was the third one that had not been ordered. The total bill came to £57.30. Iam aware that the full English was £7.50 and the other breakfasts I believe £3.95 or perhaps £4.95 so for food totalling £27.25 or £32.95 I am not aware of how much the drinks were but in view of the fact that we had waited more than an hour feel that the second round of drinks... Not a full round should have been complementary. At the time I would have questioned the bill but my husband paid it and I was not aware as he didn't want to tell me how much it was and also doesn't like to cause a fuss. The staff serving were lovely but i thought this seemed quite expensive and would like to know if this price is correct or if a mistake has been made please I'VE POSTED HERE AS YOU DIDN'T RESPOND TO MY...
Read moreWhat a shame! We booked a table for 12 people on a Monday lunchtime for my Mum's birthday. Never been before but the new menu looked good and the food was actually pretty good (when we got it!) We sat down just after 12 and ordered drinks and after 15 minutes, food. Lots of the food was unavailable due to a "problem with a delivery". We waited an hour for 3 starters and over 2 hours for the main meals by which time my husband was incoherent thru hypoglycemia. The pub was hardly rammed with customers! But obviously being a large table we were pushed to the back of the list for serving with others in and out before us. During this 2 hour wait the kids had been playing on the small play area. Unfortunately, my sister's daughter was injured when the swing she was on collapsed and she fell and hit her back and head. Clearly an accident but the response for the venue was appalling! The waitress told us she would get a manager and first aid kit. There was nothing in the first aid kit of use for this injury. No manager came to even look at the broken swing or talk to my sister or ask if her daughter was ok. We were told the manager would speak to us after we had eaten. We asked for an ice pack for her arm as it was rapidly bruising. Within half an hour of the accident my niece was vomiting and clearly very unwell. My sister cancelled her meal so she could take her daughter to hospital and was met with a very nasty manager who was not sympathetic in the slightest especially when she asked for the accident to be recorded in their accident book. How this guy is in the hospitality industry is beyond me! He was more concerned with his young son who was running around the venue than his paying customers! The rest of us decided to stay since all of a sudden since my sister cancelled, the meals were coming out. I wish we hadn't. Like I say the food was good on the whole, but those of us who stayed were treated like lepers by the waiting staff, even though we had done nothing and then we had to dispute the bill which was wrong. When the waitress took payment on the card machine we didn't even get a thanks or good bye. Wish I had spent my money elsewhere and would highly recommend you do too! Hopefully the chef finds future...
Read moreAlongside the previous 2 reviews, I was part of the group that went for Christmas Fayre and walked out. Some of us arrived well early before our table booked at 6 and some of the staff when we ordered hot drinks took that long to even make 4 hot drinks because they appeared too busy flirting with the guys who were in. My Mam had organised the full thing and feels responsible, but it isn't her fault at all. Red flags were raised a few weeks ago when she got a phone call asking where the menu was when it was handed in alongside the deposit. We were told we would be taken to our table and had to ask, no decorations, no lit candles, freezing cold in the corner out the way, had to wait what felt like forever for anything to arrive, my cold broth was tasteless alongside my frozen breadbun (which I did eat after being sent back twice only because I was so hungry at that point). We then waited an hour if not more for our freezing cold dinners to arrive and you could hold the ice cold roast potatoes in your hand. The chef came out and said they were short staffed and she had to cook other orders as well as this (again menu put in, in September we believe so it wasn't like it was a surprise they were cooking 8 Christmas Fayre menus). We asked, we gave chances, and considering one of the party travelled from Stockon in the ice, snow, and fog to be there, when she could have stayed at home safe, I feel like our annual Christmas night out was ruined. We asked for the deposit back, which we did get, I offered to pay for my drinks but they were also wiped. We then did some math sat at home with a takeaway pizza(!!!) that they lost out on nearly £250 with the fayre meal, our drinks and the tip we had already organised, not including the stock that would then end up being wasted. So thanks Lakeside for putting a damper on the start of our...
