A Taste of Thailand in Every Bite – A Fantastic Friday Night Family Dinner from Bangkok Lounge
We recently ordered a large takeaway from Bangkok Lounge for our Friday night family dinner, and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived to collect our order, we were greeted with such warm hospitality. The staff were extremely welcoming, even opening the door for us, and the ambience of the restaurant was cozy and inviting—just the perfect touch of warmth to match the incredible food.
Our meal featured a variety of starters and mains, and each dish was a flavorful masterpiece. We began with Salt and Pepper Chicken, Prawns, and Squid, along with the delicious Kanom Pang Na Goong. Every starter was cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside yet tender inside, and the seasoning was perfectly balanced.
The main courses were even more impressive. The Papaya Som Tum Salad was just fantastic—fresh, crunchy, and bursting with flavors that transported us straight to Thailand. We also ordered a mouthwatering combination of Weeping Tiger, Panang Curry, Kra Prow Beef, and Bai Ma Good Prawns. The Bai Ma Good Prawns were a particular highlight, with succulent prawns cooked to perfection and seasoned with aromatic herbs. The Med Mamuang Chicken was another standout, with tender chicken pieces bathed in a rich, nutty sauce. Every dish was fragrant, with vibrant spices that made each bite exciting.
The Panang Curry had the ideal balance of creamy coconut and spicy heat, while the Weeping Tiger was tender and succulent, full of smoky and sweet flavors. Even the member of our family who isn’t typically a fan of oriental food couldn’t stop raving about how delicious everything was!
To round out the meal, we had Pad Mee Noodles and Kao Pad Kai (fried rice). Even the rice was so fragrant, with a lovely hint of coconut that was hard to describe but absolutely delightful. The aromatic herbs and spices in every dish made the entire meal feel like an adventure, and the intoxicating smells when we opened our takeaway bags were divine.
All in all, the meal was an absolute hit with every family member, and we can’t wait to order again. From the impeccable service to the unforgettable food, Bangkok Lounge exceeded all expectations. If you’re looking for an authentic Thai dining experience, whether dine-in or takeaway, this place is not...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Bangkok Lounge for over 14 years and now have four children. We’ve always enjoyed eating out as a family and have never had any issues dining here in the past.
Today, however, I called to make a reservation and mentioned we’d be bringing our four children, including an infant. The staff member paused and then gave me a set time to come in. When I asked why I couldn’t choose a time myself, she seemed unsure and said the manager would call me back.
Two hours passed and no one called, so I rang again. I was told by the manager that the restaurant gets busy at 7pm and that we should come earlier because children “can be challenging.” I found this response extremely disappointing. After years of loyalty and countless recommendations to others, I expected better.
Sadly, this has completely changed how I feel about the place. We won’t be returning, and instead will be going to the other Thai restaurant in Harpenden. I wish you well, but the treatment of regular customers really does matter — and this experience has shown a...
Read moreI visited with my husband and children for a Father’s Day meal in June. Service is terrible, nobody working here even smiles and there is an awkward atmosphere.
Ordered the set starters which included “fish cakes”. These were dripping with oil, rubbery and inedible. I had hoped that the mains would be better but sadly not. The Thai green is not authentic and was yellow in colour. It tasted more like an Indian curry than Thai. The flavours you would expect were made missing. Pad Thai was the size of a side plate.
Finally, half way through our meal a family including young children arrived and they were told there were no available tables despite them booking for Father’s Day. I just felt awful for them!
How is this anyway to run a business? The management need to go back to basics and reevaluate every part of this failing restaurant.
You have lost my custom forever, I will continue to dine at the Old Siam which is the best each...
