Been coming here for a few years now as it’s normally a great experience , that’s why we booked . It was a birthday lunch treat . Starter wasn’t what I expected . Salt and pepper ribs ? Ribs were pork belly ribs . Guess I was expecting ribs in salt and pepper spice but they were like pork chops with the peppers and onions had a little spice on . I asked for some salt and pepper spice but was given more peppers and onions with really hot chilli spice so I left them . Mentioned it to the waitress but she just walked away .
Prawn ciabatta was lovely . Fresh with great bread , Really enjoyed that .
Cheese cake was frozen in the middle . I can’t eat frozen cream due to a bowel condition so I just ate the defrosted bits . Waited 35 minutes to have anyone come for coffee option , more drinks , clear dessert plates so I could mention the frozen cake ect It didn’t happens so it turned into wanting the bill ?? There was no one around so it could have been end of peoples shifts . I mentioned the cheesecake and that was knocked off so that was nice . Came away hungry but they could have just had a busy short staff day ?

Would highly recommend this family run pub to anyone. It's an old pub but good food and service done the old fashioned way no iPads or iPhone taking your order just pen and paper the way it should be . I'm a chef myself and hated the new systems in restaurants doesn't give the chef and the kitchen team any time to think . Writing the order down helps give the team time to prep so we're not rushing around like headless chickens . Well done to you for keeping to the old ways as they are the best . The food was tasty, although I do think a little on the pricey side for what you receive. I ordered from the "Specials" menu and paid £23.95 for the New York Strip, which came with some hand cut chips and some vegetables, which I discovered I had to share with my mother and her Slow Roasted Lamb Henry. I had presumed, wrongly, that we would get our own individual portions.
