This review is for any vegan out there/anyone seeking out vegan options. This is a very welcoming and warm pub and we had a very comfortable visit, thank you. Two of us ordered the vegan main dish of miso infused aubergine steak with chips. The chips were good and the salad was very tasty. The aubergine was okay, it was half a baked aubergine marinated in miso. We had a starter (soup of the day) but had to order more chips after finishing our plates because it simply wasn't filling enough for us. Our friend ordered the burger which she said was good. The current menu on Google is out of date, we were really looking forward to the vegan moussaka and vegan pizza options which are no longer/not currently on offer. We love visiting pubs, but unfortunately as vegans it seems very difficult to be catered for in a way that is satisfying and enjoyable these days. This said, we appreciate the time that vegan food takes to be prepared and the challenge involved in turning over a decent profit. Thank you to those running the pub as it was overall a lovely experience, lovely landlord and staff.

If you want to have a Sunday lunch at this place it is best to book as soon as you can. I did not book, but the staff did state that we could order some things on the menu. The members of staff were extremely welcoming, nice and friendly. They did all that they could to ensure that people felt at ease. Everyone who stepped int othe pub was greeted nicely. If one is there for a small snack, the cheese on garlic bread was lovely. The service was quick and I cannot think of any way to improve. ***We attended again in February 2022. The place was extremely crowded and it was evident that all of the members of staff were working exceptionally hard to ensure that everyone got served in a timely manner. The tortellini was nice and the sauce was lovely. It would have been better if it had been served with some form of melted cheese, but that is just my preference. The members of staff were friendly and attentive.***

3 is low but 4 is to high. If you consider my pie and chips with fabulous pints of ale alone... Then a 4* was nailed on. My partner ordered a nice Sirloin medium rare... It was well done when it arrived. It was the last steak left and the menu only has limited choices... so that was that. It spoiled the score but that was £22 for a steak so it really should have been delivered to requirement. Service throughout was good and attentive. Ambience nice. If you want tasty pub classics this is a lovely place. Nice decor lovely bar. Totally recommended.

Meh. Outside area not the nicest by the road, rickety seats etc. Roasts were very disappointing...basic, the tiniest flattest Yorkshire pudding you’ve ever seen, barely enough veg for one let alone three, thick gloopy gravy...and what I suspect were frozen roast potatoes. My FIL had the beef and fared slightly better, but my MIL had the nut roast and despite not enjoying it and barely eating it we didn’t get any money off the bill. My first roast I hadn’t cooked myself in about 6 months and very disappointed.

My partner and I came here on New Year's day, as i was told on good authority that the food was amazing. I wasn't disappointed. The game pie was simply delicious, the staff were super lovely and welcoming. We ate in the pub area, not the restaurant (i highly recommend this), which had lots of character and felt cosy. We personally thanked the kitchen staff for our meal and they were such a charismatic and bubbly team. Beautiful people, tasty food and a perfect way to start 2024.
