This review is for any vegan out there/anyone seeking out vegan options. This is a very welcoming and warm pub and we had a very comfortable visit, thank you. Two of us ordered the vegan main dish of miso infused aubergine steak with chips. The chips were good and the salad was very tasty. The aubergine was okay, it was half a baked aubergine marinated in miso. We had a starter (soup of the day) but had to order more chips after finishing our plates because it simply wasn't filling enough for us. Our friend ordered the burger which she said was good. The current menu on Google is out of date, we were really looking forward to the vegan moussaka and vegan pizza options which are no longer/not currently on offer. We love visiting pubs, but unfortunately as vegans it seems very difficult to be catered for in a way that is satisfying and enjoyable these days. This said, we appreciate the time that vegan food takes to be prepared and the challenge involved in turning over a decent profit. Thank you to those running the pub as it was overall a lovely experience, lovely landlord and staff.

If you want to have a Sunday lunch at this place it is best to book as soon as you can. I did not book, but the staff did state that we could order some things on the menu. The members of staff were extremely welcoming, nice and friendly. They did all that they could to ensure that people felt at ease. Everyone who stepped int othe pub was greeted nicely. If one is there for a small snack, the cheese on garlic bread was lovely. The service was quick and I cannot think of any way to improve. ***We attended again in February 2022. The place was extremely crowded and it was evident that all of the members of staff were working exceptionally hard to ensure that everyone got served in a timely manner. The tortellini was nice and the sauce was lovely. It would have been better if it had been served with some form of melted cheese, but that is just my preference. The members of staff were friendly and attentive.***

We arrived on a busy Sunday lunchtime around 3:30 having booked a table. Probably better at that time as they were still busy though. We were given a table in the dining room with plenty of space for my elderly mum and her walker and space for the dog. Darrell the owner was very friendly and welcoming and took his time to have a chat which was so kind. We felt so at home. Sunday roasts were great, portions not too much food, lovely tender meat, fab roasties, (IMO) just as good as any lovingly home cooked Sunday lunch which is just what we wanted. There’s facilities for disabled folk, a plus for mum. Ended the meal with the BEST COFFEE yum! Looking forward to returning next time we are visiting from East Anglia. Two foxes 🦊

Sat at lovely 4 person table, initially rest of area was empty. Table then adjacent to us was occupied by a large group that obviously had more people than expected. The tables were not rearranged by staff to accommodate the extras, instead the diners squashed into area adding more chairs themselves. They were constantly up and down to the bar and kept brushing our table as they slid out of the bench seating. The rest of the area and tables remained empty for the duration of our stay.

Service was slow and the young girl serving us didn’t know the menu and kept asking us to point to want we wanted on the menu as she couldn’t find it on her iPad.

We ordered two mushroom risottos with grilled chicken and were very disappointed. Rice was solid and not steaming hot. Felt it was not fresh, had been reheated and dried out. Rest of food was good.

We were not asked if we wanted to order more drinks until after we ordered our desserts. Felt staff were inattentive, distracted and slow.

When we arrived staff were putting up Christmas decorations and had to stop as we occupied the area being decorated. As soon as we paid our bill but were still finishing our drinks and chatting, staff walked through with garlands to continue decorating. Had the feeling they were keen for us to leave so they could continue.

We had high hopes of a good evening with good food as had heard good reviews. Unfortunately on this occasion this was...

The service was very good, the food all came out at the same time as expected, despite the whole bar being busy. There was a great range of food to choose from and most of it was good to outstanding. The starters were of excellent quality.

The nut roast was very good, and there was a lot of meat for all of the roast meals ordered. The roast potatoes were very poor - cooked too long, dry and not crisp at all. There was not enough veg for the number of roast dinners we ordered. A gammon meal was ordered and ham was served rather than gammon - my partner did not complain as he wanted to eat with the rest of us.

Having enjoyed the starters so much it was a shame about the desserts, I ordered a peach melba eton mess which was hugely disappointing. It tasted and looked like tinned sliced peaches, with one raspberry, meringue pieces and a portion of lovely ice cream that was surrounded by whipped cream squirted from a can. The scoop of ice cream my relative ordered was a bit miserly as well.

Overall, It was good but desserts...
