Caffè Nero — Restaurant in Stafford

Love the new vegan whipped cream on top of the hot chocolate with soy milk. This was my previous review. Normally the staff are lovely. Today the barista was nothing short of rude. I selected a tea cake clearly labelled as vegan and requested dairy free spread, to be told we don't do that. I asked about people with dairy intolerance and she shrugged. I said I'd leave the tea cake and ordered a soya milk hot chocolate with mint syrup and vegan whipped cream. It was missing the syrup so my husband took it back. No apology and a LOT of syrup was put in making it pretty much undrinkable as it tasted like toothpaste. Will be avoiding the Stafford shop from now on. No idea what the point of selling vegan teacakes is if they don't have dairy free spread....

We stopped by just after 7am. There were three ladies ahead of us who ordered lattes, and we waited over 10 minutes while the barista was still working on their drinks. She frothed the milk four times – 4!! It even started boiling over, and she still kept going. It didn’t look like she had proper training, possibly new and overwhelmed, especially since the place was already getting busy and she seemed to be the only one working.

After watching all that, I decided to head to another coffee shop – there’s nothing worse than burnt milk and a scalded tongue.

Great coffee and nice pistachio mousse cake but let down very badly by only 1 staff member being there, and had a queue. Can't blame the single staff member, she looked run off her feet. There were dirty tables and quite a few had not had dirty mugs etc cleaned away. When I was queuing, I saw the staff member throwing beakers and mixing mugs in the sink then a quick swill before using them, not good. My local Nero always has at least 2 staff serving and are always able to clean tables and wash the crockery and...
