Popped in to Cup a Cha Stafford yesterday for a quick coffee. What a delightful place it is 🥰 looking around the rooms at all of the Royal memorabilia, which beautifully decorates this lovely tearoom, could keep you busy for a while. We decided to have a cream tea as it was too nice to dash off quickly. The lovely, relaxed ambience clearly makes this place a popular venue, as we managed to get the last available table around midday. This tearoom provides a cheerful and very comfortable feel and is a great place to pop in to for a cuppa, to meet with friends or even book a larger party as there is plenty of space with lots of tables. There is a separate room which was set up for a large party, again, decorated beautifully. The cream teas were amazingly generous, with little pots of delicious jam and oodles of lush fresh cream accompanied by a couple of butter pats. We were served the freshest, warm scones and a hot chocolate and a cup of breakfast tea. Everything was served perfectly to our table in a cute teapot, individually patterned cups & saucers and plates. The staff were awesome, checking that all was ok with our order, pleasantly welcoming in their other customers as they arrived and checking on everyone who’d arrived before us. The place was absolutely spotless and beautifully presented. I will definitely be returning and I’d highly recommend others to visit for a delicious treat. Cakes and other items of the food, such as sandwich fillings, they serve are displayed clearly in their display cabinets which again, are spotlessly clean. The food looks and tasted delicious and was certainly as fresh as could be. What a treasure of a find, right on our doorstep. The nicest tearoom I’ve visited in quite some time. It’s 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me....

A True Hidden Gem – Cup a Char, Stafford

As someone who runs not one but two hospitality businesses, finding time for a little luxury like afternoon tea is a rare treat. For years, I’ve heard glowing reviews of Cup a Char and driven past more times than I care to admit—always meaning to stop, but never quite managing it. Today, with a rare couple of spare hours and my 18-month-old in tow, I finally made that long-overdue visit… and I’m so glad I did.

First things first—booking? I hadn’t. And despite the place being clearly bustling with happy customers, the team welcomed us with open arms (and warm smiles). It’s a rarity these days to walk into such a busy venue and immediately feel at ease, but Cup a Char pulled it off with grace and charm.

The food? Absolutely faultless. Fresh, beautifully presented, and every bite bursting with flavour. It’s the kind of fare that doesn’t just meet expectations—it exceeds them, then invites them back for dessert.

But where Cup a Char really shines is in its service. Friendly, genuine, and full of personality—the staff made us feel like regulars from the moment we stepped through the door. My little girl was completely smitten, and honestly, so was I.

This place is more than just a tea room—it’s an experience. A little slice of Staffordshire magic. I’ll absolutely be returning when time allows, and I’ll be recommending Cup a Char to everyone I know. Stafford’s sparkling gem, and one I’m delighted to have...

Was up on Stafford visiting some family and was looking for a nice local tea room to which we found this little gem :).

Lovely warm welcome from a lady at the counter, she asked if we had booked to which we said no however the lady was very accommodating and seated us. She explained everything and gave us a menu.

A great variety of food to choose from, myself and my wife choose a nice tuna jacket potato and a bacon sandwhich. Both very fresh and tasted amazing. We both couldnt resist having a cheeky piece of the traditional Victoria sponge cake too which was lovely and went down a treat with a cup of cha.

The tea room itself was amazing and I loved the royal family feel and theme ( very British) lots of nice pictures and news articles. You can see the owners really pride themselves with great food and warm friendly atmosphere for everyone.

Nothing was to much trouble the lady and gentleman was very polite and professional and couldn't do enough for you.

Highly recommend and will definitely be making the 200 mile trip to visit again.

Thanks very much for a pleasant and warm welcome to cup a cha, looking forward to trying your cream tea...

I had been meaning to try this places for ages, and then wanted to meet a friend who had popped to the bank in town. Wonderfully lovely staff, the menu was lovely and my daughter had beans on toast, while we had coffee. Lovely little colouring sets for the kids. The theme is lovely and its clearly apparent how much effort has been put into it. There is parking nearby, which is a total luxury in Stafford nowadays. The only niggle was the table felt sticky- it clearly wasn't through lack of cleaning, as the place was spotless, rather the result of the decoupage on the tables wearing down. Might be worth investing in glass/perspex table tops to go over, as the tables are lovely and again, clearly a lot of effort has been put in to the decor. I will definitely be coming in again, and really like the look of the afternoon teas.

We had a lovely time at Cup a Cha. The service was outstanding and very allergen friendly! They checked the bread for my daughter who is dairy and soya free and also used a separate chopping board and knife to avoid any contamination. They asked if we wanted them to cut the children’s sandwiches into four too which was really thoughtful. We hadn’t realised there was a kids menu but still very reasonably priced ordering from the adults menu for them. The only downside I found with the food was the sausages as they were not really to my taste (and looked like the ones you’d get somewhere a bit cheaper!) but other than that the food was very nice. Loved the royalist feel and looking at all the pictures. Would recommend to others.

I have just visited Cup a Cha for the first time. Both myself and my husband were really impressed. We had a pot of tea which was served in China cups. My husband had a slice of chocolate cake, I use the term slice very loosely as it should probably be classed as a wedge! My husband thought it was the best chocolate cake he had ever had. I had a plain scone with jam and clotted cream. This was equally as delicious. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so much so we will be going back next week and taking our 9 year old daughter who we know will love it. Apologies about the picture, I should have taken a before and after, this is just the after!
