UPDATE 19/08/23. I have now upgraded this review to 5 stars. The lunch menu is much improved, Jacket potatoes are now served with a range of fillings and I notice other additions have been added as well. I felt what we had was good value and delicious. My new favourite cafe. …
Initially when we pulled onto the rough car park in the pouring rain, I wondered where on earth had we come, however I needn’t have worried.
The cafe looks to be a newly created building in the farmyard. Inside it was warm and nicely decorated with framed prints from local artists. The kitchen set up looked modern, clean and the staff were well organised.
We arrived just as breakfast was finishing and the lunch menu kicked in. There seems to be a very good choice for breakfasts but lunch was limited to a choice of Toasties. The breakfasts looked delicious. We had the Coronation Chicken toastie which was nicely presented and tasted great.
We also had a large latte which was served in a glass with no handle and at £3.10 I felt was a bit steep, the food though was good value. It would be nice to see the lunchtime menu expanded to include staples such as Jacket potatoes and perhaps Oatcakes served all day.
This is a new business and it seems they have got off to a flying start. It’s definitely one of the better independent cafes in the area and I...

Review: We visited Bolton Gate on Father's Day, and what an exceptional experience it was! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm and friendly service that made us feel right at home. The atmosphere is inviting and charming, perfect for a special family celebration.
The food was absolutely fantastic! Every dish we tried was flavorful and beautifully presented. The menu offers a great variety of options, ensuring that everyone in our group found something they loved. It's clear that the chefs take great pride in their work.
One of the standout features of Bolton Gate is that it is dog-friendly, which is a huge plus for us. Our furry family member was welcomed just as warmly as we were, making the outing even more enjoyable.
Overall, Bolton Gate is a great all-around place that we would highly recommend. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a lovely meal out, this spot ticks all the boxes. We’ll definitely be returning...

Visited early in the morning for a quick drink and bite to eat. The bite being some toast and jam. When the toast came, it was on the 'light' side and I did have to check it had been toasted (it had). However, only people who have mortal enemies serve cold butter with toast and on this occasion, we were unfortunately the enemies. Cold butter just destroys toast, it's impossible to butter a slice of toast with cold butter. We did ask for the butter to be warmed to make it spreadable, the first attempt didn't work but the second lot which was brought out did. By this time, however, the toast was cold. Paying a hefty premium for something as simple as toast should never warrant a negative experience.
One other thing was the size of the regular latte glass. With it being so small, the coffee ended up being much too strong for it to be a latte and ended up being more of a flat white.
Positives: pleasant staff, nice interior and exterior, great tea.
TL;DR - nice café let down by...
