On entering the establishment, good atmosphere. Looked to have recently been refurbished. Led to our table in the restaurant area of the pub, menu handed and drinks order taken. Drinks delivered quickly except the hot drink which arrived during main meal, and mains order taken.

All went from downhill, 2 adult mains delivered quickly, then remaining 2 adult meals 5 mins later or so, and about 15 mins after initial meals delivered the child's meal then arrived, with extra salad when only asked for veg. The "minted slow cooked lamb" was far from minty or slow cooked, and roast beef was tasty.

Plates cleared after 25 mins after finishing, leaving condiments on the table. Not offered desert menu, had to ask for child dessert that was included, only had 1 scoop when menu said triple scoop.

When asked for the bill, it was stated we had to go to the bar, when another table asked was informed by the young lad how would they be paying, as it was mixture he said the card machine only works at the till unfortunately. He did seam newer than the female staff member who delt with us but seamed to have a better customer service skills.

Hope the table of 12 who arrived after us had a better experience, and all got their food roughly together.

The staff kept saying apologies we are busy, when we arrived there were 3 other tables in...

We have been coming here off and on for a number of years and have always enjoyed quality food and large portions. For the very first time, today's food specials were a disappointing experience. Yes we said fine across the bar to is everything alright? But that was to avoid any embarrassing discussion and problems. I had Shepherds pie and my partner had cheese & onion quiche. The quiche, while nice, was a tiny portion and I mean a tiny portion. My partner is a small eater but even she was disappointed. Her accompanying salad was not dressed and should've been. My Shepherds pie didn't taste the greatest and was smothered in mild cheese - why the cheese?? Spoilt things. It's not a lasagne. Our chips and my peas and gravy were Good and tasted nice. This is the first time we have had below par meals at the Rose & Crown and prices are fairly high at the best of...

Went for a meal with friends on Saturday to the Rose & Crown. I had contacted the venue a week previous to inquire if they catered for vegans. They said they would be able to accomodate me and my partners diet. On the night we were offered Peppers stuffed with rice. As I don't like peppers I asked if there was another option, and we were offered a ""Stir Fry"" so we said that would be ok. When the meal arrived the "Stir Fry" was dry rice, with only 2 pieces of mushroom, 1 carrot slice , and a slither of broccoli in it, No sauce, ect. It was probally the rice that the "chef" was putting in the stuffed peppers. We had a portion of chips with this meal. The cost for this meal was £10.95. If it wasn't for the fact that we were with friends we would have walked out. How come an experienced "chef" is not able to make a stir fry or a meat free...

Booked a 90th birthday party at the Rose & Crown for my mum. I couldn't fault anything. The staff were excellent, the room was perfect for the 30 or so guests. Everything was accessible for my mum who isn't the greatest walker any more. A playlist of music from 60s and 70s was played as requested to add to the atmosphere. We had the hot / cold buffet. Much better than your usual buffet fare. Everyone that has spoken to me afterwards has said how good it was (and how much was available). I would highly recommend this pub for functions.

We dined as a party of 15, some had starters but the staff knew to delay the main courses. I'd say within ten minutes all of us received our meals. Cooked to perfection, steak perfectly cooked, home made tikka, and chili were also spot on. Staff are attentive but not clingy.. pleasant and have a professional manner. Venue is a proper country pub, large beams, with a nice ambiance. The outside decked area looked smart with amazing views. All in all The Rose & Crown gave us a fantastic evening enjoyed by all. We will return.

We went here as a family or 9. Age from 9 to 70 yrs old. We heard great reviews from the food here. 1 of us had been also so strenghtened the want to go. Good to say they didnt let us down. The female staff who served us well deserved her tip, very knowledgable. When we asked her questions about the drinks and the food. Food was great and we really enjoyed this, none of us all had 1 complaint Thanks again and will be reattending
