Cask n Tandoor — Restaurant in Stratford-on-Avon

The website says "open at midday" for food so we visited on a Monday. Nobody welcomed us, we walked up to the bar where an Indian gentleman with greying hair had his back to us. Without turning round he said "Can I help you?" We said we had come for lunch, he said "We don't open until 2". I pointed out the website and he said "The chef is running late." That was it, no apology, and at no point did he even turn round to look at us. He begrudgingly said "I can do you some sandwiches". Everyone has a bad day I'm sure, but as locals we will not be back because there are plenty of other places to choose from. Sad because this sounded promising, all he had to do was welcome us, chat to us and apologise. We went instead to the pub in Shottery where they made us feel very welcome. UPDATE after the non-apologetic reply from the owner (see below) ... 1) they do have a website and it says "Bar Menu Served from 12:00 noon to 6:00 PM" so that's a lie, and 2) the guy with his back to us didn't say "we don't have a website" or "we open at 2", he agreed with us and said the chef was late, and 3) he then updated their opening times in Google to be 2pm after he saw my review. All he had to say in his reply was "Sorry" and "Please come back and...

So pleased that this place has opened. We walked up early evening, 2 adults and a baby. Great selection of beers and a good selection of food for my veggie girlfriend. We both opted for curries which were real tasty and all very reasonably priced as well. The place is fairly small but it creates a really nice atmosphere. Service was good as well. We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon for food with our dog. The bar was quiet due to the time of day but service was brilliant and the vegetarian and meat style Indian food was fantastic. Selection of beer is also very good.
