Beautiful local setting with food and drink to match. Just off the village green in a stone cottage setting little changed and well preserved.
Food is classic pub fare. Real Ales are real. The interior is as cozy as the exterior is inviting.
Food: the recommended haddock fish & chips with peas is lightly breaded on site and cooked exactly as it should be. The pictured plate in my review is half a serving. I split the generous full portion.
Fish cakes with chips and salad was very tasty, according to my partner.
My next (dinner) visit chose 'pie of the day', chicken, ham and mushrooms with chips. Made on site daily, it was good to the last crumb. It's my personal recommendation from the menu!

Vegetables are clearly from a frozen mixed packet. Gravy is thin and tasteless, zero fresh vegetables. When asking for more cranberry sauce than their allocation of a level teaspoonful each, we (22 of us) were told "No", "You've had your allocation". I doubt the total ingredients bill would have been more than £25 for all 22 of us (charged £12.95...
Read moreWonderful country pub. It is small, warm and welcoming with a real fire. The beer was excellent and, although we didn't try it, the food looked very good - proper pie with chips and gravy. A big thanks to the landlord who went the extra mile to help us with an issue we had with our Warwick Castle tickets, getting his daughter to help us.
