We went here today , arrived around 1:30 pm and was told there were no tables available inside however I could see there were clearly empty tables. I asked the waitress if she could check again and was then told we were in luck as there had been a “no show” We were seated quickly and our drinks order taken and another lady came and took our food order , I ordered prawn starter and beef roast , my partner mushrooms and fish and chips . Starters came promptly , however no drinks had come ? I asked the lad who bought our starter to chase our drinks , my tea arrived , but I had to call him back for milk , and then for a spoon and sugar , he told me they were under new management ( not quite sure the relevance of this ?? ) and things were a bit upside down . My biggest gripe was the fact the door was constantly opening and closing to the garden , the room was cold , and the draught was constantly blowing through , the four surrounding tables were all eating in coats , with one ladies husband fetching a blanket to put over her legs x As a consequence the food although coming out hot became cold pretty quickly . My starter was tasty although very small , 5 small prawns for £8 . The mushrooms were extremely tasty and came with sour dough bread. Beef was excellent and the roast was piping hot but as I say was cold within minutes due to the door, the fish was meaty and tasty but the batter was very very hard . Side of cauliflower cheese at £5 a complete waste of money as it was burnt . We waited to be checked on but we weren’t , so we couldn’t order another drink or a dessert . After 10/15 mins of finishing we made our way to the till to pay . This was our first visit and wouldn’t necessarily be our last but service needs tweaking and maybe only a place to visit when warm And sunny so the chill factor wouldn’t...

My family went for lunch on Saturday. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and everything was organised and ready for us without any trouble. The service is beyond excellent. The owner personally took the time to explain that everything they serve is freshly made and most of it local produce. He also catered for my slightly fussy eating 10yr old son , making sure he was happy. One of our party is gluten intolerant and the gluten free options are almost unlimited , even the freshly made bread served with the gorgeous olives at the start. I had a linguine dish (prawns and parma ham) that was really amazing. Great depth of flavour, beautifully balanced and seasoned. The pasta was freshly made and you could tell by the quality. The prices are not cheap but they ARE great value when you consider the quality you are getting. The service was always friendly, helpful and immediate ... there's lots of other praise i could heap upon this restaurant but you get the idea. If you live even remotely close and like to have a high quality food experience , then visit the Red Lion at Claverdon. It's...

My wife and i love the Red Lion at Claverdon. It is a real hidden gem. The food is outstanding. Easily up there with fine restaurants in the area. During the summer months, they have a lovely decked and parasol covered area, that you can have your' meal on , or just drinks ,whilst overlooking the beautifully kept garden. If you do go in the summer, take your shades and sun block, as the garden is a real sun trap. After the garden the rolling Warwickshire countryside goes on as far as the eye can see. A real treat. The inside of the pub is very cosy, with open fires and candles, for that special and romantic evening. It's not cheap, but worth every penny. Expect a bill of about £90, for a good meal for 2 with drinks. Whilst children aren't actually discouraged , the aren't catered for either, so the pub tends to have a nice quiet, adult athmosphere. I can't recommend it highly...

My husband and I had dinner and camped in our VW camper overnight, in their wonderful car park. The view was to die for, with deer grazing in the fields beyond. Simon and Becky were excellent hosts, providing a warm welcome and excellent service. We had an evening meal, which was very good value for money, in their comfy lounge area. Next day we enjoyed a full English Breakfast on their beautiful patio. We would highly recommend, having the facility for a camper van park up was a perfect bonus. The village is very sleepy and quiet, but definitely worth a little walk around.

Overall our experience here was good. The food was better than your average chain pub but not quite the 'gastropub' quality we had hoped for. Nonetheless it was pleasant and there was good variety on the menu. Service was efficient and the surroundings are nice enough. There's a separate kids menu and they had a couple of vegan and gluten-free options available. There were a couple of nice ales on tap too. One minir point- the fish and chips included fish with the skin left on which I don't like but I realise this is personal preference.

We had a pleasant Sunday lunch here but feel it could easily have been better. The roast beef was a little "strange", two thin slices but almost steak like. Also a bit more carrot and a parsnip bigger than 2cm would have been appreciated. All was well cooked and the service was very prompt and attentive by the friendly waitresses. I thought £17 per head was expensive for what we had but that's true for most pubs in the area. Unfortunately there was nothing on the dessert menu that tempted us.
