Would have got more stars if it were not for the cyclists.

Rather an awkward location due to narrow roads being populated by incompetent elderlies that should not be allowed near cars let alone driving them.

Once you have (just about) safely made it past them and attempted (in vain) to park in the matchbox sized car park- blocked entrance by one inconsiderate L200 driver (need I say more)- and made it inside the very nice building you can breathe a sigh of relief at last. Very nice looking menu along with a good selection of ales means this reaches just high enough in my ratings to be deemed as a "recommendation".

We all opted for the sunday roasts (3 beef, 1 pork) which were very nice.

HOWEVER, We could not enjoy our lovely meal in peace due to the bi-wheeled, lycra-clad vermin that are cyclists, we could barely keep from heaving as the old men and women pranced about in skin tight outfits that showed every bone and bulge. They were louder than a group of yobs on a street corner and relentless in this. It disrupted the ambience somewhat and meant that we had to virtually shout among the 4 of us to hear each other despite being on a small table. Luckily they left in time for us to try and enjoy our desserts. Where weirdly the accompanying ice cream was more enjoyable than the cheesecake itself, which was hard after waiting for it for nearly 35 minutes! We supposed they may have been curdling the milk to make the cheese in which case well done but alas this may not have been the case.

Overall nice food, slow service and general pricing for the area. Worth going to when it's raining to avoid cyclists, of which there...

This is a classic and quality country pub. The staff are great and always friendly. They love dogs here too which is great and is always full of very welcoming people.

There standard menu is great and they always have some lovely specials on too. The pie of the week is a hands down winner for me. A proper pie with lovely light pastry all the way round, juicy rich gravy inside with serious cuts of meat in the steak ale and stilton. They even have an ever-changing pork pie selection on the bar too. We have been a few times and have never been dissappointed by the food.

Always a sound variety of ales on tap and some nice lagers and ciders too. A varied selection for the non drinkers too rather than just a diet coke which is always welcome.

We love this pub and always look forward to a drive through the countryside to it. Lots of benches outside full of walkers and riders sitting in the sun for a few well earned pints.

A fine example of a true cotswold...

Great atmosphere, decent food and very welcoming staff : would definitely recommend a Sunday roast after a dog walk in the winter!

We pre-booked a table with a group of 9 people and 2 dogs, they were very catering.

Cosy little pub with the wood burner blasting, made it a very idyllic spot.

Food was well priced, presented and tasted pretty good! The only criticism was that the veg accompanying the roast, they could definitely be improved.

We also had a few vegans with us, and upon specifically asking about the Nut Roast, it turned up with a non-Vegan Yorkshire pudding on top! It was swiftly resolved, but after specifically asking about the nature of the vegan roast, it's frustrating we had to point out and ask.

Nonetheless, staff dealt with it swiftly and we're attentive and...

A good solid Cotswold country pub. Easy to find, lots of carpark, indoor and outdoor seating. Rooms and huts for overnight staying.. Local Taxi to avoid drinking and driving. A nice local selection of beer, spirits and soft drinks. Pleasant decoration with local and landlords themes, a lot of history here. Food is good, the rustic chips are enormous. Staff made our day, my mother in law didn't want any of the usual fayre on offer so they found and grilled some fish, then provided a lovely selection of seasonal vegetables. Above and beyond, and that is why I would recommend it. We were staying locally in Painswick and our holiday let landlords recommend it too. There are plenty of local walks nearby, and you could make a lovely day out parked here, and finishing off here at the end.

A beautiful night away in the new shepherds huts at this fantastic pub. Every little detail has been thought of in the hut. We wondered beforehand if we would be cold, but far from it, with the heating and a great log fire, it was toasty even though it was cold overnight. We ate in the pub, where we found the service very friendly, fantastic, food choices great, and fine cask ales. Not only that our dog was very much welcomed (and loved!). Breakfast was provided in the hut, and was delicious with local products used. We enjoyed a lovely autumnal walk after breakfast around the local area, absolutely stunning colours and some good hills to get the heart rate up a bit! Thoroughly recommend, can't wait to go back! PS cherry on the top was having an EV charger too! Well played!

Wonderful tradition Cotswold pub in the small village of Sheepcombe. Despite its being difficult to find and park, it is well worth the visit. Offering outdoor and indoor seating , the Butchers Arms is a brilliant place for Sunday lunch. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The pub is dog friendly and child friendly. It also offers a good selection of vegetarian dishes.
