Two of us for lunch. There were three tables occupied inside, half a dozen outside.
The pate that we had was good. The Egg, ham and chips a satisfactory plateful, although the ham was tough and took a lot of cutting, let alone chewing. Puds fine.
Overall the food was nothing special, but acceptable. It could have been quite a good experience in an attractive old pub if it hadn't been for the waitresses ignoring customers and enjoying themselves.
The two waitresses - one blonde, one brunette, were very friendly. When you actually got them to come to the table.
They were more interested in chatting, eating, and generally having a social time instead of being aware of customers and their needs.
They had a friend of theirs sitting at the bar with an iPad or similar on which they were all three gathered round discussing holidays. Very loudly. Taking no notice of customers.
We were sitting in the window, the other side of the room from the bar, but could hear every word of their conversation about passport validity, Gatwick flights, etc. They were having great fun while customers waited.
When their friend went, one of them then started eating her lunch. She was eating something out of a pot or tub, with a fork or spoon, then something (crisps? nuts?) from a packet. Standing behind the bar eating her lunch.
Never in my life have I seen that. A waitress eating her lunch at the bar!
Proper staff training and supervision would have sorted these two out, and made a better experience for the...
Read moreGood honest pub food. Nice interesting interior with plenty of space. The staff are really helpful and friendly too. We had a wonderful baked Camembert and rosemary with warm bread to share. Gorgeous. The menu is not the most adventurous but good for all that. It does change. Each of the restaurants in the private chain are different and positioned for different markets. This one is a bistro pub aimed at the younger crowd predominantly. We are not that young but still enjoy it so it has a good all round appeal. It is in a quiet corner of Nailsworth with a nice garden at the front. Watch out for Old Blue eyes... a local feline legend who is said to visit and ask for his "pint" from the drip tray. Only a cat would have the bare faced cheek to do that!! He's...
Read moreAlways highly recommend the Brit. Being my local pub I always look forward to visiting whether it be for food or drink. It has a great location with a car park just behind the back garden. The front garden is a great place to be sat in summer (Always people sat in the garden when I drive past) with inside being just as nice with a really warm Cotswold pub atmosphere and style. In winter they have an open fire going which is always a nice touch. Food has always been great, with a pub menu you'd expect. And Sunday lunches are even better. The Brit is perfect for a casual drink or...
