Me and my family (5 people) stayed in this b&b for 1 evening Saturday - Sunday.
Hosting The owner was lovely - could not have been made to feel more welcome. Anything needed was well accommodated for, and we were very well looked after.
Rooms There are 3 rooms to book, and we had all 3. The beds were the best I had ever slept in, the mattress was incredibly comfy. All of the beds were āzip bedsā so could easily be turned into twin or double rooms. I couldnāt feel the join at all, and didnāt even know until after talking to the owner that they were zip beds that could split. Bedding was soft and I slept like a log.
Dinner I honestly have never had a better veggie dinner that the one I had last night. I ordered the filo sweet potato parcel that came with salad and couscous. Portion sizes were more than adequate, and flavour was AMAZING. My other family members has squid and pork belly starters, then mains were the burger, ribeye steak, lamb, and chicken skewers. None of us have can pick any fault at all. Even the side salad was flavoursome and beautifully presented. The menu did state āitās not fast food itās made to orderā, and we did wait a bit for the food, but it was A MILLION TIMES WORTH IT! I wish we took photos for this reviews, but to be honest it looked and smelt so yum, none of us could wait for a pic. There were also two young ladies working their first shift the evening we were here and they were both lovely. Pulled pints perfectly, helped with waiting on us for dinner, and everything was great.
Breakfast We were waited on hand and foot, and everything was accommodated for, even lactose free for myself. The day before we were also asked what time we would like breakfast - which was great! Everything was fresh and very yummy. Even the little touches, like the butter and condiments were in cute little jars/packaging that looked like they were from a farm shop / locally sourced. No set menu either, so we could choose exactly what we wanted, which was amazing for me as Iām a fussy veggie.
OVERALL Me and my family have ZERO complaints, everything was perfect and nothing could have been better. We were well accommodated for and very very well looked after. If we are looking to stay in the area again, we will DEFINITELY be choosing this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFull disclosure - we didn't actually stay. Although we did try!||||We booked online for end of September to stay for a wedding nearby. After checking my bank account I noticed that the Ā£50 deposit had been taken as expected, but a day later another Ā£50 had come out. I checked my confirmation email and it said Ā£50 deposit with Ā£50 left to pay and so I emailed the pub. After a few days with no response I phoned and left a message.||||Kate responded after that, saying the T's & C's state that they will take 100% upfront. Checking the T's & C's, I saw that she was correct. But I double checked the booking form and it definitely said 50% up front. Weird that this is hidden in the T's & C's and not stated upfront.||||I said that was fine, as I now had it in writing that we'd paid in full. But I did suggest they may want to amend their booking forms and confirmation email to prevent such queries happening in the future. To which she replied (and I quote) 'Having reviewed your reservation with my business partner I donāt think we are the right place or product for you, so we have cancelled your booking.' What?! Because I questioned being double charged? This makes me think they were always going to try to scam us for the additional Ā£50. ||||I had checked the reviews, but didn't realise they have two sites here on Tripadvisor (the other is at https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g1233687-d3954642-Reviews-The_Old_Crown_Inn-Uley_Dursley_Stroud_District_Cotswolds_England.html) and doesn't sound too bad. If I'd read the reviews on this page I'd never have booked. Such an odd way to do business. I think we...
