Visited 10th April for dinner for my birthday. Friend had a £50 voucher so made use of that before it runs out. Glad we had the voucher as I'd have been highly disappointed if we had to pay for this. Arrived and weren't seated. I asked at the bar if they had any tables for 3, waiter said yeah over there. So we sat in the corner as we had my 4 year old son with me. Waitress arrived with menus. Came back after about 10 mins and took drinks order and food order. I asked if the children's chicken goujons were battered or breaded and she didn't know so went to find out. Came back and advised breaded and we ordered. I felt the pizza options were pretty limited given it's described as a pizzeria.. I ordered a CYO pizza with mushrooms, sweet corn and red onion. I ordered my son (children's menu) the melon and fruit starter, battered fish fingers and asked to swap the chips for skin on fries, friend ordered a pepperoni pizza. 2 ciders and an apple juice for drinks. Kids starter arrived covered in a strawberry syrup and was mostly melon, with two small pineapple chunks and one strawberry. I had to remove the syrup though as he doesn't like it and don't recall that being listed on the menu. After about 15 minutes our pizzas arrived first and then the children's main. The red onion looked and tasted more like pickled red cabbage, and the cheese didn't appear to be fully melted so felt it could have had a little extra cooking time. Friend for pepperoni which looked about as good as any pepperoni pizza can look. He said it was basic and ate it but for the price would've expected better. Children's main arrived with chips. No one came to check on the food so I had to go to the bar to explain it was supposed to be fries. They got some sent out and they were colourless, tasteless and under cooked. I tried the fish fingers and they tasted of nothing more than deep fried batter, wasn't a lot of fish in them. I asked for my pizza to be boxed and the waited came and dropped a box on the table and walked away. We were not offered anymore drinks, a dessert menu or asked if the food was ok or if we needed anything else the entire visit. I had to go to the bar to ask for the bill even though it was clear we were finished. I presented the waiter with the voucher and he disappeared for ten minutes. Came back and explained there was a £2 accidental charge added and they can't remove it so they've cleared it. Assumed that was it and went to leave. Collared at the door for a further £8.25 charge for the remained of the bill that wasn't mentioned. Paid and left. While the bar and restaurant itself is clean, and had a pretty chilled vibe, the staff aren't attentive, if you need something you'll find yourself having to get up to go and find someone to ask for it, which when you're paying the prices they charge you'd expect to be at least asked if your food is ok or if you need anymore drinks, you'll find this in the most basic of places and your local pub, and the food will be better quality and half the price. The food it's self is pretty basic for the cost, and there are a lot of places local will serve a similar menu at a fraction of the cost and the food is much better. I'd have at least expected the pizzas to be decent considering they advertise as a pizzeria and smokehouse. The total bill came to £60.25 after getting the receipt, for a kids starter and main, 2 pizzas, 2 old mout and 1 apple juice. For that I'd have expected a lot better quality food and more attentive staff. Feels a lot like chain pub food. Probably won't return, which is a shame because the bar and restaurant is actually quite nice.

Oh man, let me tell you about my experience at Carter & Fitch—it was freakin' awesome! 🙌 First things first, the vibe there is just perfect. It's like a great mix of cozy and hip, with dim lighting and cool decor that instantly makes you feel relaxed. It's the kind of place you'd wanna chill with friends or have a casual date night. Now, onto the food—holy moly, they've got some serious culinary magic going on! 🍔🍕🍣 Everything we ordered was drool-worthy. The burgers were juicy and stacked high with all the goodies. And let's not forget the pizzas, crispy crust and loaded with delicious toppings. And their sushi? Wow! Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I also gotta give a shout-out to their drink selection. 🍹🍻 They've got a killer cocktail menu and a nice selection of craft beers. The bartender really knows their stuff, and the drinks were on point! Now, one of the best parts—the staff. They're like the friendliest bunch of people you'll ever meet! 🤗 Attentive, fun, and just all-around awesome. You can tell they genuinely care about making your dining experience top-notch. Honestly, if you're looking for a spot with fantastic food, great drinks, and a super chill atmosphere, Carter & Fitch is the place to be. I'd go back in a heartbeat! 💯

We got married at the George Washington 4 years ago today(that's a whole different story). Whilst staying there we used Carter and Fitch for non wedding food and were very disappointed at the food , drinks and service. As it our 4th wedding anniversary we tried Carter and Fitch again. Again we were very disappointed. The starters were ok but my wife's meal was so bland and tasteless that she didn't eat it. At no point did our server return to our table to ask how the food was or offer more drinks. When she cleared our table she didn't ask how the food was so me had to tell her how bad it was. She agreed to feed it back to the chef. We had to ask for the bill as again the server was not to be seen and when the bill came my wife food was still on the bill. We had to ask for my wife's food to be removed. Im still waiting to be offered a second drink. Atmosphere wise there were several lone customers watching football on their phones with the volume up which totally spoilt the atmosphere.

I booked carter and fitch for my wifes special birthday celebration. A table on the patio for 6 gor pre drinks 3-5 pm and meal inside from 5pm.the young male staff member was welcoming and seated us , takjng a drinks orger we asked for a drinks menu or a gin menu .the member srated they were not allowdd to give menus out due to the virus .we ordered pink and orange gin quite blind not knowing any brands or pricing so this was bit of a worry as we know a gin can cost any where from £3 a shot up to over £10 , i joked and said nog the £12 one please ! To try and get a point accross.we enjoyed our drinks on the patio. When it came to come inside for our meal ,i asked if i could pre order some wine for the table as i was paying and covering the bill.the staff member ssid tes no problem whst do you wand white ,red or rose' i said vould i see the wine list as ive looked and its not on line The staff member said we are notcallowed to give me one to prevent tge sprwad of covid .i said coild you show me one then please ,thry said no not allowed.i said could you take me through the wines , the member said im sorry i font know them all but we have white red and rose.i said fo you have a shiraz ,the member ssid i think so, i said how much is that one please and the member said im sorry i dont know .i politely aaid im dorry on that basis i will have to give the cwine a miss. Another staff menu brought over a table menu and we passed it around ,i though we were not allowed menus, we had our meal , food is very overpriced for such a reduced basic menu but i was thankful to be able to at least treat my wife and guests on such a special occasion, after the meal we were produced a dessert menu? I thought we were not allowed menus to prevent thexspread of covid the staff had said ? My point here is that u do nof believe that say a wine menu is not more likely to spread covid more than a food menu or a dessert menu butvthe staff are clearly untrained here , they will have had a wine menu , whrre was the msnager or restaurant manager or hotel food and beverage manager, if we arnt alloweed a wine mrny why are we passing rounc food and dessert menus .why is there not a wibe menu on dislay to look at or one on line to view.in these difgicult times and hotels andcrestaurants need supporting and need the sales.i reckon we would have had 2 shiraz and 1 sauvignon blank which usually costs us normally around £60 -£80 .the hotel restaurand missed out on this sale and we hsd to make do and ho without wine on a special occassion.this made thecevent not sovspecial and i would think twice about returning .i spent £200 with a 10% discount for holf membership , could have been nearer £300 but we ordered our taxi to pivk us up an hour early and went back home for drinks as my wife was quite upset . We actually had quite a pleasant time and food was ok , staff themselves and service quite good so no issues there .its the wine thing/ syetem that the staff need training in and needs to be handled more professionally , even if you had one on line or one on display Dont tell the hotel directors tgey will be fumingvwhenbthey hear of the fiasco and the...
