Rocky’s Restaurant — Restaurant in Sunderland

This review is long over due but I’m so excited to write it and share the incredible experiences we have had every time me and my partner have been to Rocky’s.

We started going to Rocky’s several months ago and every time we have gone. It has NEVER disappointed. The atmosphere is phenomenal. The waitress staff are so lovely and friendly. The chefs are very accommodating. Both me and my partner have never had a bad experience going here once.

The most recent time we went was for my partners 25th birthday. We had went with his brother and his girlfriend as well and me and my partner and truly I wish I had asked the waitresses name who worked that night because I’d love to mention her by name. She was phenomenal!! So friendly. Very funny and just so sweet. She was an absolute delight ! She made the whole experience even more incredible than it already was.

When I say Rocky’s goes above and beyond they truly do. When I mentioned it was my partners birthday she told the chef and they did a tiramisu for him with a candle in it and sang him happy birthday. It made us all smile so much and was just the perfect end to a great day.

If I had to recommend anyone a place to eat it would be here cause they truly are something worth sharing!! And that’s coming from someone who struggles to eat at most places but always finds something...

Food good to a degree , starters one satay skewers was great another supposed to be tomato soup but more like lobster bisque sauce? The Diane sauce on one steak was sour and Blue cheese sauce on another steak not blue at all , however steaks were cooked to perfection, what let whole evening down even more was the inexperienced staff with little or no training, wine bottle plonked on table not even opened or put in wine cooler which came with the bottle , table cleared for some whilst others were still eating, reaching over seated guests, didn’t even know how to set table and placed cutlery not only wrong handed but facing away from seat and handled by eating ends not handles etc etc, and it went on, training in etiquette definitely needed, head waiter apologised and although we weren’t going to have any he persuaded us to and provided deserts for free as an apology, couldn’t even have a coffee as the machine didn’t work? I will give it another go sometime and hopefully the staff have been trained accordingly but not...

Arrived with my family around 4:30 and was welcomed even though it was close to closing time. It was a sunday (opening night), so they only served roast dinners. The atmosphere was warm, it felt very American with signs and movie posters all over the walls. The food was excellent, especially the meats, which tasted slow roasted as they seemed to fall apart in the mouth.

The only issue that we had was probably due to us arriving so close to closing. The server out of the blue brought us our check while we were halfway through eating our mains. I would have preferred them to let us know how soon they would close on arrival, and then when they have to close, explain the situation and ask if we would like any dessert to go.
