The Biddick Italian Bistro — Restaurant in Sunderland

Group of 9 of us had a meal which we pre ordered. Food was delicious, however the service left a lot to be desired. We asked for water four times throughout meal and did not receive it at all the whole time we were there. There were glasses on table for water but told all of the jugs were being used. We had asked for desert menu. It was not brought and we had to go up to bar to ask for it twice before getting it. We ordered a Bacardi and coke, but was brought a dark rum. We had to send back. Our deposit of £45 had not been in took off bill and we were asked to ‘prove’ it had been paid. I had to get my online banking up, despite pre ordering and then knowing we would have had to pay deposit at time of booking. My friend and I had the steak deal, we were surprised to see it was £40 as we were expecting it to be £35 which is what it was in the website when I booked the day before ! However food was nice, steak wasn't the best I've ever had , as I feel it could have been better seasoned by the chef but nevertheless it was fine . Husband has the Diavola pizza which looked and tasted nice but could have had a bit more spice to it more nduja and less chicken . Included Rosé wine was a white Zinfandel and was good.. Serving staff were excellent, very friendly and efficient and the place was busy , music was a bit loud but I think we were sitting under speakers . I would recommend a visit to The Biddick Inn the general menu is very comprehensive with lots of choice but wished they still did the hanging kebabs or maybe I missed them on the menu ? We had the pleasure of having Afternoon Tea at The Biddick today. On entering, we were greeted by a very pleasant member of staff called Jenna. Both the bar and restaurant were furnished to a very high standard and were immaculately clean. The Afternoon Tea was amazing - far more than we had expected, and the quality was excellent - all made by the chef at the restaurant. There was a good variety of sandwiches, two types of scone (with lashings of jam and cream) plus an amazing selection of sweet dishes - sticky toffee pudding, Apple pie with caramel topping and a large chocolate brownie with garnish that was the best we have ever had.
