0 star review-Raw chicken and shocking customer service from the manager and the owner.
When The Indian Plaza first opened I have to admit the food was amazing. However since the business has grown and the owner has expanded the premises etc there has been a severe decline in the quality of the food; specifically take aways.
I ordered a take away a few months ago and it was utter rubbish so it has taken a while for me to give them another chance, but I did.... and I regretted it.
I ordered poppadoms, lamb samosas starter, a chicken tikka massalla and a chicken shashlik with massalla sauce, Pilau rice and a naan bread. We phoned it through but collected it as we thought it might be fresher than being sat in a delivery car for a while.
The poppadoms were so stale, they tasted like they'd been sat there afew days. The chutney trays were half the size they used to be and the mango chutney had been that watered down, it had no flavour of mango.
The 2 teeny tiny lamb samosas were OK.
The masalla sauces were both so watery it was untrue. I literally had to drain my plate of water before I could begin eating.
The naan bread was really hard and stale too.
Then I began to eat my shashlik. I bit into a chicken piece and it was raw!
I rang and spoke to the manager who asked for our order. He then began to question how often I ordered, whether I was a regular customer, when was the last time I ordered etc, no idea why this mattered??!!!! If I'd been a more regular customer, I wouldn't have been given raw chicken?
The manager told me he would investigate and ring me back that evening. No phone call.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt, he had obviously been busy so I decided to ring back the next day. I would have rung back had I not been sick as a dog!!! All night and all the next day I was sick to my stomach.
Another member of the household rang and was told that they hadn't had any other complaints that night!! So obviously we was making it up then?! We was not offered any apology and was told next time I ordered I would be given a discount- as if i would order from there ever again!!.
They did not seem to care that I had been poorly and they did not grasp the seriousness of what had happened. I was ill for a further 2 days. The manager said he would pass our number on to the owner who would ring us the same day. No phone call.
Rang back the next day, was told the owner would ring us the same day. No phone call.
2 weeks later we have still not received any phone call, apology, nothing. After a poor quality take away a few months ago, we decided to give them another chance, never again!!
The owner now only seems to care about the money he is making from people. The prices are going up and up and up- this was happening before fuel etc was increasing. The customer service used to be so good, staff used to want to make you feel welcome and make sure you had the best experience, this does not seem to be the case anymore, its all about maximising profits! Some of the girls behind the bar and who answer the phone as so incredibly rude and have no customer service skills. The waiters are run ragged and barely have time to make conversation anymore like they used to in order to provide a friendly atmosphere. The restaurant is cramped, they seem to have crammed so many tables in to maximise footfall and again, profits that it is no longer comfortable. Customers are sat on top of one another and are crammed together.
Quality of food and customer service is nothing like it used to be and it is such a shame that profit has taken priority over the thing that the plaza used to be famous for; good quality, tasty food and great...
Read moreWe've wanted to try the Plaza for years, but we've never ended up going. Tonight we finally went and honestly we were a bit disappointed to say the least.
A lot of the problem is the layout of how the staff sit their customers. There's no separation between large groups, families or couples, unlike practically every other restaurant we've been to. And a lot of groups visit the Plaza. Due to this the entire atmosphere is very loud and energetic, which is fine if you're part of that crowd, but extremely distracting if you're not. There was a section at the back that seemed to be quieter but the staff had that area closed off and unlit.
When we first arrived we were sat between 2 groups. 1 staff member noticed we were an isolated couple and offered to move us to a quiet part of the restaurant, which was really appreciated. But because the whole restaurant seems set up to cater for groups, that quiet part lasted for approximately 5 minutes before 2 more large groups sat next to us.
The food... The starters were very good. We didn't order anything fancy, just Pakora and Bhaji. Both arrived promptly with a fresh salad and were tasty.
However the mains are another story. We ordered from the "Chef's Specialty" menu, and although the dishes arrived quickly, were hot and freshly cooked, they were unbelievably salty. Passanda is supposed to be cooked with red wine, but they either never put it in, or it was drowned out by the salt. I can only assume that regulars (or chefs?) of the Plaza have destroyed their taste buds and need vats of salt to taste anything. Honestly, pick a random takeaway and you'll most likely get a nicer curry. The sundries were fine however.
The staff were friendly, although always circling looking to push drinks. The time taken between us receiving our menus and being asked if we were ready to order was under 3 minutes. Everything felt rushed.
Not a terrible experience, but not one I'd care to repeat. We'll be going...
