Lilly's Bistro — Restaurant in Tameside

I do not usually leave reviews but feel I must say something about this place. I took my grandmother and great-aunt here yesterday as a surprise. This was their first experience of having afternoon tea despite living in Ashton all their lives, so as you can imagine, I wanted it to be a pleasant experience. It turns out I had nothing to be worried about - I made a reservation for 3pm a few days in advance and when we turned up, the manager Mandy greeted us and said she was just setting up our table. As my grandmother and great-aunt sat down, the chef Chris came out with the sandwiches (which were vegetarian as requested) and explained exactly what everything was. He then proceeded to bring out the desserts and the scones which were fresh out of the oven. It was an absolute treat as Mandy and Chris showered them with so much attention and made them feel like royalty. The food was absolutely delicious and more than enough for us - we even had leftovers to take home! Mandy was so attentive; coming to fill up their teapots before they even asked. We stayed there for couple of hours as they both relished in having someone serve them afternoon tea and giving them the attention they have spent their entire lives giving to others. They absolutely loved it and I will definitely be taking them back again soon. All in all a brilliant experience with wonderful service - so anyone hesitant about going there, take it from me: you have NOTHING to...

I felt I had to share this bad experience earlier today. My son and his wife took me for a Mother,s Day breakfast treat. He had made the reservation for 10.30am but the day before had received a call to change to 10am which he agreed to do , even though this caused him some inconvenience to his plans for the rest of the day. We arrived at Lillys at 10am and were the only customers in. The waitress/owner showed us to a table with cream leather chairs. I immediately noticed that the chairs were quite low. I am on crutches as have recently had a hip replacement and have to follow precautions, one being I cant sit on low seats. I politely explained this and asked if we could sit on the booth type seats instead as I could clearly see they were a good few inches higher.I was told rather abruptly that the other seats were taken and the seats heights were all the same. So as not to make a fuss my son had to return to the car and bring my orthapeadic cushion to higher the seat. We had our breakfast and left around 11.15. All the booth type seats were still empty when we left. I could not believe how awkward this lady was ,given the reason for us asking , plus we had accomodated her change of reservation at short notice. We certainly will not be visiting Lillies again any...

My partner and my self have just had the most amazing meal tonight Saturday 25/July/20 I had the chicken Espetada which was absolutely amazing. The chicken was tender and juicy the peppers and red onion where sweet and smokey it came served with fresh house salad, coleslaw, fries and a garlic butter to poor over most enjoyable. My partner had The cheese burger which came served with fries The burger was juicy and sweet with just the right amount of topping served on a fresh bun which he thoroughly enjoyed. Then followed the dessert which consisted of a home baked chocolate brownie served with ice cream or fresh cream the brownie was soft and sweet with a lovely crunch to the outside again very enjoyable. I would recommend the cherry lips cocktail it is very refreshing. As regards to the service It is second to none nothing is to much trouble the guys really do go above and beyond I highly recommend...
