Went in at lunchtime with my toddler for something to eat. Purchased the cheese pie and children's Chicken nuggets. Both plates were absolutely delicious. Staff were super friendly. Only a 10/15 minute wait after ordering. Very happy to make adaptions to my order changing peas to Beans on my dish and swapping an item on my sons plate with an alternative. We were allowed to sit where we wanted and had a lovely experience. I understand the pub is under new management and my 4 stars instead of 5 is because of a few improvements I would suggest that would make the experience better. They are - More vegetarian options. Looking at the menu I think they could very easily have more vegetarian options without having to change the menu. For example Sausage and Mash could have a veg alternative if they served both pork and quorn Sausages. The fish and chips could have a a fishless Fillet or halloumi filet. The katsu curry could have a quorn Chicken alternative or just have a plain katsu option.
Myself and other customer tables asked for Mayo with their food so maybe just have the bottle on the table with the other condiments provided.
The outdoor play area could really do with an upgrade. The current climbing frame has seen better days. I think a new climbing frame and perhaps a swing would be wonderful especially with summer coming
I think the children's menu was quite expensive considering it doesn't include a drink. £7 for just the main meal means I probably wouldn't come here regularly as its not budget friendly. The last 10+ cafes/pubs I've visited usually charge around £6 for kids and this includes a main, side, drink and dessert. For example there's another food establishment 5 minutes away who provides this children's deal for £4.50
It would be nice to have a lunchtime deal menu. Perhaps main course and a drink for £10 or two main courses for £15 or buy one get one half price. Possibly an early bird offer between 12-3pm weekdays. Something along those lines.
These are only little things that I think could make a great improvement. Overall the food, staff and atmosphere was amazing. Its just not a pocket friendly place at the moment for myself personally so I'd only pop in once in a while at...
Read moreWE GAVE THE PUB OWNERS A RIGHT TO REPLY TO BE BY EMAIL BUT THEY DIDN'T.
SO THIS IS WHAT I SENT THEM
We came to your beautiful pub for a meal for 6 under the name Preston Brookes on Bank holiday Monday.
The meal all in all was just ok.
I'm very disappointed in the way that my starter didn't have the ingredients stated on the menu, it didn't have Chorizo (it had cheap sausage from Spar) and i couldn't find any bacon, I brought it to the attention of the server who initially denied what I found, then when I showed her, she agreed, she went to find out from the kitchen and came back with that explanation, which while I appreciated it, it shouldn't have been on the menu.
There wasn't enough steaks to go round so I asked to see the Rib eye (I got a strange look when I asked this) she brought it to my table and the marbling was poor and looked very very cheap and indeed not restaurant quality for £21.99, luckily I managed to get a Sirloin med/rare which it was, it was a bit chewy but acceptable.
Nice wine Te Papa, loved it, however the Malbec was out of stock, so it was just the one bottle of wine, then we went to the Haddon Hall for more wine.
Our Bill came to £189 and I felt so sorry for the server (i think her name was Jenny, I could be wrong) I tipped her a tenner, normally i'm a 15-20% tipper. We cancelled the Miller and Carter for your bar and grill and was sorely disappointed.
Was this a one off or a usual thing? The tripadvisor feedback looks good and that was the reason why we chose to have dinner at the Pig on the wall.
I'd love for you to get back to me if at all possible, if you are part of a chain would it be better for me to contact them.
I WOULDN'T BOTHER COMING HERE TO BE FAIR AND ESPECIALLY NOT WITH CHILDREN DUE TO THE LOCALS FOUL LANGUAGE.

Read moreWe came here today for the first time after reading the good reviews online...when we first arrived the pub was nice and welcoming... staff were pleasant and chatty. We sat down and it was a limited menu due to chef being on holiday (ok fair enough) We ordered food and waited 40 minutes...a couple came in after us ordered food, ate and left by the time we received our food. No sausages on the mixed grill so my dad asked for extra gammon..After 45 minutes the food came out one of us ordered a starter which came out with the meals. I ordered the steak which came out cold so i sent it back. It came out no warmer than when it went back in. No onion rings on my plate. Raw mushrooms. No pepper sauce which i ordered so I asked for it...got it when i was on the last few bites of my luke warm dinner. My mums food came out 10 minutes after ours did. My sons beans were cold. My dad asked for med/rare steak it came out mooing on the plate and his gammon was in scatty pieces. It wasnt a mixed grill. Just a few pieces of scrappy meat and chips chucked on a plate. Very disapointed indeed!! It wasnt busy we were the first in there to order food. It was like the standing in chef didnt have a clue what he was doing or couldnt be bothered. Was such a shame because all the staff were so nice. I felt sorry for one of the young girls who looked after us who couldnt apologise enough. She even said herself it was embarrasing!! They took my steak off the bill. Fair enough. But doesnt compensate for the £40 we still paid for luke warm under cooked food. Dont think we will be returning to eat in...
