Table of 5, the restaurant was not full by any means so they weren't exactly swamped. Ordered 3 eggs 'benedict' (first issue I had as a true eggs benedict, to those that know, is only with bacon, it should be called royale to be served with salmon) and wanted one with just bacon, one with just salmon and the third with salmon and avocado. The young server on the till clearly wasn't confident with what she was doing as my partner had to repeat himself 3 times when ordering. It may have been presumptuous to assume that a place that serves breakfast all day understand which ingredients make sense to go together on this dish, but when the food came out, two out of three were wrong. They th avovado had no salmon on, but salmon had been added to the one that should have been just bacon.
To make matters worse when this was queried and we sent the two incorrect dishes back to the kitchen hoping for rectification, which would have resulted in me writing an entirely different review, the two poor young servers were simply sent back out with the two incorrect dishes again, and the kitchen ticket for the order off the till as if that somehow proved that they had not made a mistake. Again, I repeat, we had to say our order 3 times at the till when originally ordering. My partner pointed out that he had had to repeat himself a lot when ordering and it was clear to all, except the venue, that a mistake been made. I mean who puts bacon AND salmon together on a poached egg dish? Just isn't a thing.
They handled the entire thing very poorly, no manager even came out to speak to us and we were simply told to order again. If it had been a case of just swapping the salmon from the wrong bacon dish, we would have been happy with that but I am pescatarian and didn't want bacon grease on my food when I choose not to eat meat. Again, NO manager had even been out to speak to us to resolve anything. And to top it all off, every single egg was over cooked and and rubbery, like a hard boiled egg, with not a single soft yolk like you'd expect on a poached egg dish.
It's a shame to be writing this as Rosie's is normally a lovely place to eat, and had the issues been dealt with appropriately I would be writing a much more positive review. As it stands I couldn't eat my breakfast so have walked away hungry and out of pocket. Some staff training would go a long way I feel and it was cowardly of the manager to not even bother coming to the table, instead palming it off onto the younger food runners, who's fault it clearly was not. Oh, and we couldn't even have a coffee because the machine was broken, which I feel fed into the attitudes of how this was dealt with as I can imagine they would have had to deal with a lot of rude people kicking off about that all day. And as an ex restaurant manager myself, I understand how frustrating it is to receive moaning about so something you can't control. But our issue would have been easily fixed and we would have walked away happy, but instead they ignored the issue, didn't offer an apology or solution and took our money anyway. Disappointing when we spent £52 on the table, on food alone, that's not including the drinks we had as well. Very...
Read moreBeen coming here every week for around 3 years, it seems to have new owners now and for the past couple of months the service has just got worse and worse everytime. Today i came and ordered my usual, i ordered a flat white which came to me in a glass (completely pointless) and it tasted absolutely disgusting. I told the waitress and asked for it to be swapped for a different drink to be told id have to pay for another which ive refused so theyve begrudgingly gave me a refund. Not only that they forgot my babies meal, eventually brought out a completely different meal to what i ordered and then the man from the kitchen came out pretending to clear the table next to us just so he could look. This same man then laughed to another member of staff about us as we was leaving.. never ever coming here again. Made to feel like its your problem when they make mistakes, which seems to be on every visit. If its not overcooked eggs its cold toast or cold coffees. Considering its not the cheapest i expect better. Ive worked in a cafe for over 6 years i would never treat customers this way! Maybe consider getting some of your old staff back who all seem to have left. The place was run better when they were there! Remember without your customers you dont have a business! I'll stick to the stockport rosies from now on, they know how to make a...
Read moreUsed to be the best cafe in the area by a mile. More expensive than others but definitely worth it. Had a bad visit last time but gave it another go today and it was worse.
Bacon says thick cut on the menu. It is not. Says grilled tomato on the menu, we got lukewarm tinned tomatoes. The 'serving' of toast is just one piece of toast cut in half. The HP sauce and Hellman's mayonnaise bottles had obviously been refilled with cheap stuff. The staff kept leaving the door open on a cold day, the older gent next to us had to get up to keep closing it and ended up moving seats. There are signs everywhere that the owners have put up complaining. Moaning about people using the toilets, moaning about people using laptops, moaning about non-customers using facilities. Big yellow 'warning! CCTV!' signs. It really ruins the atmosphere of what used to be the best atmosphere of any cafe I've visited...
