Safari narrow boat tearoom — Restaurant in Tameside

Visited here on Wednesday with 2 friends. Ordered the Safari afternoon tea which was a sandwich of your choice from the menu, crisp, salad, coleslaw, scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam, meringue with strawberries and fresh cream and a choice of another cake which I chose lemon drizzle cake. It all came displayed on a beautiful afternoon tea China stand and I had a pot of tea also in the super price of £12.50! The whole experience was wonderful! We sat inside but as the weather was glorious people were sat at tables outside too. Anything we couldn’t fit in our tummies was put into a box to take home. A wonderful time was had by all 3 of us and we’ll be returning again with more friends for sure! Nothing was too munch for Maria the owner. 🥰 An absolute must for anybody out with their Mum, friends, family or partner! You can have breakfast, sandwiches, soup, toasties as well as the wonderful afternoon tea. Advisable to book in advance as it looks extremely popular with the locals. A must visit for sure!...

Had a fabulous afternoon tea aboard The Safari today as a birthday treat. We both went for the Safari afternoon tea, which was a nice mix of sweet and savoury, plus a pot of tea each. The bottom tier (I so want to call it the bottom deck ~ boat joke! 🤣) comprised of sandwiches, 🥪 some cheese and onion, and some egg mayo, (best of both worlds as we shared), some salad, coleslaw and ready salted crisps (potato chips for my American friends 😉). The middle tier was a deliciously crumbly scone served with strawberry jam and clotted cream 🤤 (obviously jam first 😉), and the top tier was a meringue with whipped cream and a strawberry 🍓, and a piece of lemon cake 🍋🍰 Everything was truly scrumptious 😋🤤 and yes, we both managed to finish the whole stand 😉 Thank you so much Maria and Phil for your hospitality. I had such a lovely breakfast experience here. I pre ordered and booked the day before for a late morning vegetarian breakfast. The owner was very quick to respond to my social media messages and happily made adjustments to my order. Food was delicious and service was very quick. Condiments were offered and a toilet is available inside. Seating available outside during good weather. Takeaway orders are taken. The boat was warm, cosy and full of character.
