The Forester — Restaurant in Tameside

Booked a table for 8 for Sunday lunch, it was quiet when we arrived at 14:30, got a really warm welcome and seated at our reserved table. Sunday lunch wasn't listed on the menu so asked and was told they did roast beef sunday, prepared from scratch by their new chef and was recommended. 5 of us had Sunday lunch, one scampi, buttermilk chicken burger and kids chicken nuggets. Food was served quickly and was really good. Sunday dinner included Yorkshire pudding, roasties, mash, 3 veg and gravy, all homemade no shop bought frozen Yorkshire puddings here. Chicken burger was huge and looked amazing, good sized portion of scampi and kids meal was great and included an oreo ice cream sandwich for after. Not a huge choice of desserts but cider apple crumble was excellent and the massive ice cream sundae sharer served 3. Food was very disappointing, Food tasted microwaved and not fresh. ordered a simple salad was not fresh and served without dressing chicken was freezing cold, steak wasn't cooked to order came well done and was ordered medium which was specified twice as wasn't asked when taking the order, overpriced for the quality and food felt rushed to get out as I had only just sat down from taking my order and it arrives at the table I'd rather wait for good food than have sub standard food with quick service. When here for lunch today with my friend and her son jayden staff behind bar are all very welcoming and friendly. The pub is lovely and clean and nice out side area to sit if you choose.i had the vegan option plant based burger it was served lovely and hot and again lovely staff.my friend had the chicken platter or sharer I think it was.
