Vevas Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Tameside

Need to let you all know about tonight's service at Vevas in Stalybridge.

We've been here ALOT before and always really enjoyed it. There was 4 of us like there always is. We booked in here for my Fathers Birthday (his request) and advised this on the booking notes online.

Last time that we came we had a bad experience with the waiter Maz, as other reviews have stated. He said that women that can't have children should be divorced and weren't worth anything. As someone who had been diagnosed with fertility issues I found this to be really awful to listen to, but didn't want him to spoil a nice night out.

We didn't want our previous visit to taint what has always been a nice restaurant. Tonight we were booked in at 8.30. Service was absolutely awful!

We had to ask for our order to be taken and then it took over an hour for our food to arrive.

My Mums curry arrived cold, along with all of the sundries were stone cold.

When we sent the food back as soon as it was placed on the table the waiter that was serving it seemed to be very embarrassed. The "manager" then came over and told us that his kitchen doesn't send out cold food and we should expect to not be served for over an hour because they were busy. I have advised that they shouldn't have take so many bookings, apparently thats not reasonable.

After we left the restaurant (after paying the bill in full), the "manager" came outside and started trying to provoke us staying that he hoped we had a nice evening. My mum was very calm and said no, clearly not and that it had ruined my dad's birthday night out and she thought it was quite disrespectful that he was smirking whilst talking to us. Avoid, non existent customer service and bland curries 😮‍💨, go to everest cafe in ashton instead. Honestly I wish I had spent the extra money for an everest. It is the only place that I have found that does authentic curries, instead of trying to fob you off with a watered down British version 👧🏻🧑🏻.

Would have given it 2 stars if they didn't ignore me completely 🤷🏼‍♀️. We ordered a chicken Karahi which wasn't a Karahi - It was quite bland and consisted of chopped tomatoes, almost raw veg and slightly tough chicken, it didn't taste seasoned at all. I understand that this dish is mainly tomato based but it was very basic. The pilau rice was dry which didn't help the curry out as it seemed to lack sauce. The samosas were okay but bland and definately mass produced, the flavour of the bhajis were nice but they were dry and hard to chew. The papadums were perfect, and the mago chutney was spot on.

My first and second refund request was ignored so I had to go through foodhub for it to be refused. I still haven't had an explanation as to why 🫤, I got the impression they thought we were having them on and requesting a refund for the sake of it. I never request a refund unless I think it is valid reason, most of the time i dont bother going back. However, seen as almost everything was unpalatable I thought it was only right to ask.

Just won't be going here ever again....

My family and I had a reservation at Vevas Indian Restaurant on Sunday, August 24, 2025, and were left profoundly disappointed by our experience. We chose this restaurant based on a personal recommendation and were excited to try the Sunday buffet, which is advertised on the website as being available until 9:00 PM.

Upon being seated at 8:30 PM, we were immediately met with an incredibly rude and aggressive waiter. He abruptly informed us the buffet was closed at 8:00 PM and dismissed our concerns about the website's hours. His unprofessional behavior continued when he was questioned about the drinks menu, giving us a "7 minutes" time limit to make a decision in a hostile tone.

Feeling disrespected and like an inconvenience, we made the decision to leave the restaurant before placing an order. The entire experience was a complete letdown. To make matters worse, I sent a formal complaint to management, but I have not received a response. The lack of communication shows a complete disregard for customer feedback.
