We visited Primrose this afternoon for afternoon tea. Upon arrival we felt ignored & when we initiated conversation the lady was extremely rude & not at all welcoming, telling us to wait outside in a rude manner as no tables available inside. We decided to go into the garden area & were further disappointed to not only have to go and get our own order, like some second rate service sector, but to fund everything was in paper cups, boxes & cutlery as apposed to the very beautiful tea services presented inside. It was a very poor experience & while the setting was absolutely gorgeous the staff along with the poor garden experience certainly spoilt the afternoon tea. I would urge the owners to consider the points above so that the outside setting reflects the inside setting which currently is a million...

1 star for deceptive billing.

The food & setting were good - but the management need to seriously review their billing practice. A friend paid the table bill and it was only after we left and checked the receipt did we realise the waitress had added 15% service charge. This wasn't declared verbally, and even on the bill it was a totally non-descript '15'. That was it...Not even a name or % symbol to indicate what it was.

Tipping for service should be something a customer initiates if they feel appropriate and it should not have to be an opt out process. The menu prices are high enough to pay wages and it shouldn't be down to customers to subsidise them. They certainly shouldn't be doing underhand tactics to get...

First of all: I did NOT have food or drinks here, just rating the logistics of this place. My husband and I are from Germany wanted to have an authentic afternoon tea here. I chose this place based on the great reviews. I called in the morning to book a table but was told that they do not take bookings. When we got there at 1:45pm (on a regular Thursday, beginning of September, no more school holidays) it was not possible to get a parking spot anywhere nearby - and we searched for a long time! We finally gave up, also because it seemed like there weren’t any tables available when driving past the tearoom. I really wished the would take bookings and have private...

Some of the best food I've ever had. The café itself is beautifully decorated; all the china cups and plates dotted around make for the comfiest ambience. There's also a lot of space, so even if it's quite full there's plenty of room. The food is perfect. My boyfriend and I had the quiche and loved it. It was a generous portion and tasted sublime; I fear now that no quiche will ever compare. It came with a beautiful salad that was equally as tasty. When I return I'll have to try their cakes; they looked too good for words. I'll be telling family and friends to go out if their way to visit Primrose Tea Rooms because it's so worthwhile.

Best scones ever! This lovely little tea room has only been re-opened 9 weeks with a new owner so ignore all the old reviews. Great tasting coffee, huge very tasty scones, lots of jam-choice, great service and a lovely little garden to enjoy all of this in at the end of our walk with comfy outdoor seating. The owner was very hospitable and bakes her own cakes, including a good range of gluten free options. We will definitely be back when we return to Devon.

We travelled specifically to this village for their cream tea. We knew we were in for a good lunch when most of the tea room was full. Honestly the best cream tea we have ever had!!! DELICIOUS! It also comes on lovely bone china. We also got a cheese sandwhich which was lovely and the salad on the side was fantastic. The portion sizes are generous and prices fair. I couldnt recommend this place more 😁 see the pics if you dont believe me!
